It's been almost a week now since the legendary DMX passed away. A week before his death, he was admitted to a White Plains, NY hospital after suffering a heart attack. The Yonkers native was on life support as soon as he was admitted as that was the case for the next week as he was in a coma. Tests were conducted to see if X's brain function improved at all but that sadly did not happen. The difficult decision was then made by his family to take him off life support.
DMX's 2003 Autobiography Is In Demand
Fans are looking to support DMX's family in any way right now. One of those is purchasing his 2003 autobiography, E.A.R.L.: The Autobiography of DMX. This was released in October of that year as it details X's life, from his childhood to battling drugs and the massive success he experienced over the course of his music career. Currently, the autobiography is doing so well that it is now No. 5 on Amazon's Arts & Literatures Biographies charts. It is No. 35 on the complete biographies charts, per HotNewHipHop.com.
DMX Had His Fifth Straight No. 1 Album In 2003
The same year that DMX released his autobiography, he had another phenomenal one in general for his music. He released his fifth studio album, "Grand Champ." This would become his fifth consecutive No. 1 album on the Billboard 200 chart. It was led by the singles "Where The Hood At" and "Get It On The Floor" feat. Swizz Beatz. This project also currently stands at platinum status in the US. Grand Champ at the time was X's last album with Def Jam.
Funeral Arrangements Are Being Made
As for DMX's funeral, his family is working on that at this moment. The mayor of his hometown of Yonkers also reached out to the family as he extended an invite to have it at the Yonkers Raceway. This is an outdoor venue that can hold 7,500 people but would operate at 25% capacity due to New York's ongoing COVID-19 protocols. As of now though, X's family hasn't reached out to that venue. Mayor Spano says that he wants to help ease the burden on X's family.
DMX's Music Continues To Receive A Lot Of Love
The day that DMX passed, he started to dominate charts on streaming outlets such as iTunes and Spotify. X occupied the first three spots on the iTunes top songs chart as they were "Ruff Ryders' Anthem," "Party Up," and "X Gon' Give It To Ya." Currently, "The Best Of DMX" album stands at No. 3 on the iTunes top albums chart and his 1998 debut studio album "It's Dark and Hell Is Hot" is at No. 7.
