Angel Reese recently shared an emotional message for her fans about an unexpected change to her rookie season.
The Chicago Sky star is getting tons of support from fans as she reveals that an injury has ended her rookie season abruptly. Reese shared a message of strength and gratitude on social media and her fans have been dropping into the comment section to share their love and support.
Angel Reese Shares A Heartfelt Message About Her Rookie Season Ending Early
Reese took the WNBA by storm during her rookie year, but sadly her first year in the league is ending early due to an injury. The former LSU star took to Instagram to share her emotional news.
"What a year. I never would have imagined the last bucket of my rookie season would be a 3 but maybe that was God saying give them a taste of what they will be seeing more of in Year 2 lol," Reese wrote in her Instagram caption.
"Through it all, I have showed that I belong in this league even when no one else believed. All I ever wanted was to come into the W and make an impact. I can confidently say I have done that and will strive to keep doing so."
Angel Reese Plans To Be The 'Biggest Cheerleader On The Sideline' For The Rest Of The Season
The WNBA star's caption continued to explain why her season is ending early and abruptly.
"I'm filled with emotions right now that I have a season ending injury, but also filled with so much gratitude for what is next," she wrote. "Although this is God's timing and not mine, I am finally able to give myself a physical and mental break. 'God gives his hardest battles to his strongest soldiers.'"
She concluded her announcement by saying, "You'll see me being the biggest cheerleader on the sideline! And Unrivaled league, see you soon!"

The No. 7 overall pick in the 2024 WNBA Draft suffered a wrist injury that will keep her off the court for the Sky's final six games of the 2024 WNBA season. She also shared the news of her season-ending injury on X, formerly known as Twitter.
The wrist injury occurred during Friday night's Sky vs. Los Angeles Sparks game where Reese scored 24 points, as well as 12 rebounds and two assists.
Reese's first season in the WNBA was truly eventful. She made WNBA history with 15 consecutive double-doubles earlier in the season. She also recorded 26 double-doubles in 34 games, the second most in a season by any player in the WNBA.

Fans quickly took to the comment section to share their love and support for Reese.
"Love you and proud of you every day! Know you’ll keep making an impact for seasons to come," one person wrote on Instagram. Another shared, "Can I just give you my wrist? We love you, Angel!!!"
There was more love where that came from. Nearly 9,000 comments flooded the WNBA star's Instagram post.
"This hurts so bad. Praying for a healthy recovery and I’m already looking fwd to year 2 of you and the Sky. Ik you and the team will be even better next season," one fan wrote. Another added, "Love you, Angel! Phenomenal rookie year! Praying for a strong return!"
Love and support were also overflowing on X.
"We love you so much. Thank you for having an amazing year! Please get well fast," one person shared. Another said, "We love you, Angel! What a year it was! Historic rookie season!"
