It's diaper duty for Macaulay Culkin. The "Home Alone" actor and his girlfriend, actress Brenda Song welcomed a baby boy on April 5th. This is the first child for the couple, who are "overjoyed" at their son's arrival.

Esquire magazine was the first to break the story. News of Culkin and Song's baby came as a surprise because no one knew of the pregnancy. The couple is known to be private, and opted to keep this special moment in their lives a secret.

Song gave birth to her and Culkin's son on Monday, April 5, in Los Angeles. Baby Dakota was born weighing 6lbs, 14 oz. When it came time to name their son, the couple decided to honor a late family member. Dakota is named after Culkin's late sister, who passed away in December 2008. 

No other details were given about baby Dakota's birth. But the new parents are said to be happy, and Brenda's fine and healthy. The couple reportedly had been trying to have children for a while, so this is an exciting time for them.

The Couple's Relationship

Culkin and Song began dating in 2017 after meeting on the set of the film "Changeland." Like Culkin, Song is a child star, mostly known for her role on the Disney series "The Suite Life of Zack & Cody."

Although, the two are famous, unlike other celebrity couples, they chose to lead a private life. Every once a while, the couple would be photographed out together, and Song occasionally shared a sweet social media post about her beau. As their relationship became more serious, Culkin opened up his desire to have a family with Song. During a 2018 interview on "The Joe Rogan Experience" podcast, Culkin said the couple were practicing and he was "going to put some babies in her."

Like many celebrities, Culkin's rise to stardom began when he was a kid. He became a huge star thanks to his role as Kevin McCallister in the 1990 film "Home Alone." The movie was a huge success and Culkin began raking in the movie roles along with the big bucks. For the "Home Alone" sequel, he reportedly was paid a salary of $4.5 million.

In 1994, at the age of 14, he decided to retire from acting. He says that the turbulence of his home life was a contributing factor in walking away from the business. Culkin's father Kit served as Macaulay's manager, and was known to be an abusive and absentee father. When Macaulay was 15, he emancipated himself from his parents and fought for control of his earnings.

Aside from being a new dad, there's a lot to keep Macaulay busy. The 40-year-old hosts his own podcast called "Bunny Ears," which features a slew of celebrity guests. In recent years, Culkin has also started to get back into the acting game.

Nine years after his retirement, Culkin made a comeback in the 2003 film "Party Monster." Since then he had several roles in television shows and small films. Culkin's next big role will be on the FX series "American Horror Story: Double Feature," which is currently in production.
