As The Blast previously reported, the 42-year-old professional dancer was arrested for domestic violence in Napa Valley, California, on Thursday. Initially, the details of the incident were unclear. However, details have now come forward indicating that he was charged with felony corporal injury to a spouse.

This mention of "spouse" strongly suggests that the victim is his wife, Nikki Garcia, though the victim has asked their identity not be revealed at this time. Garcia and Chigvintsev have been married since 2022 and recently celebrated their wedding anniversary.

"This song is our love story. I'll never forget where I was when I asked Jesus about Artem. Having a conversation with He & God. How my feelings felt too soon. It all felt too fast," Garcia wrote on Instagram a few days ago. "And then this song came on. And that's when I knew that I was falling in love with him and that it was all meant to be."

Following his arrest, an interview with his former "Strictly Come Dancing" partner, Fern Britton, has resurfaced.

Nine years ago, Britton, a well-known TV presenter in the United Kingdom, made shocking allegations against the "Dancing With the Stars" pro. She told The Huffington Post UK that Chigvintsev would shove and kick her when they were paired on the show in 2012.

“We would be in hold, and he would look at my feet and just kick me or shove me," she told the outlet at the time.

She also claimed that Chigvintsev would tell her, “You just stand there and don’t move, I dance round you.”

But the allegations don't stop there. Britton also claimed that the "Dancing With The Stars" pro threatened her, claiming that she was terrified of Chigvintsev, recalling that he once allegedly told her to “shut your face” and “go home before I kill you.”

“I would say, ‘Oh please just kill me, it would be easier.’ Or what was his other one? ‘If you go for a cup of tea now, I will blow off like an atomic bomb.’ I thought, ‘Well, I won’t correct him on that one,'" she added.

Despite the allegations, Britton said they were friends. “We did love each other for a moment or two," she said. "But he wasn’t charm personified. I did kind of enjoy it, but it was grim at the same time.”

After the allegations surfaced, Chigvintsev released a statement.

“I believe I treated Fern with respect and genuine care, and these claims about me are the opposite of everything I believe in and the person I am,” he told the U.K.’s Daily Express. “I cannot imagine what has prompted such statements, which come as a shock to me.”

After his time on "Strictly Come Dancing," the Russian dancer began competing on "Dancing With The Stars" where he took home the Mirrorball Trophy in season 29 with "Bachelorette" alum Kaitlyn Bristowe. Most recently, he competed with "Bachelorette" alum Charity Lawson in season 32, where they finished in fourth place.

Chigvintsev and Garcia were partners on season 25 of "Dancing with the Stars."
