Captioning her video with "Better late than never," Hough's post came on the heels of a candid discussion about her sexuality, five years after first revealing that she's "not straight."

In a recent appearance on the "Jamie Kern Lima Show" podcast, Hough delved deeper into her views on sexuality, refusing to be confined by labels. The TV star shared that she is attracted to "people," emphasizing that her journey is more about love and connection rather than fitting into predefined categories.

Reflecting on her 2019 revelation, Hough described how "empowering" it was to publicly come out, stating, "It's not about being straight or gay or bi or queer. It's more about, I think I'm just learning what love is."

Hough admitted that she is still "learning" about her sexuality, even at the age of 36. Her perspective has evolved, as she now sees people for their hearts, beauty, and essence. She explained, "I love people, and I don't know if it's a sexual attraction or a different kind of attraction, but I'm just seeing people."

This newfound understanding, she noted, has been a beautiful and enlightening revelation for her.

Hough first opened up about her sexual identity in a candid interview with Women's Health in 2019. During the interview, she recalled a pivotal conversation with her then-husband, NHL star Brooks Laich.

"'You know I'm not straight, right?'" Hough shared how she told Laich. "And he was like, 'I'm sorry, what?' I was like, 'I'm not. But I choose to be with you.'"

This admission surprised not only Laich but also many of her fans, who had assumed she was "straight" based on her previous relationships with high-profile figures like TV personality Ryan Seacrest and comedian Dane Cook.

During her recent interview with podcast host Jamie Kern Lima, Hough opened up about the profound impact her marriage to Laich had on her personal healing journey. She revealed that their five-year relationship played a pivotal role in addressing and healing her childhood trauma. She explained how Laich provided her with the opportunity to "reconnect" with her younger self, offering the sense of safety and stability she had longed for since childhood.

Reflecting on her needs at a young age, Hough shared, "What did I need at 10? I really needed safety and a grounding force, almost like a father figure."

She described how her relationship with Laich fulfilled that need, giving her a "little girl feeling" and the stability of a dependable partner. This sense of security, she noted, was instrumental in her emotional healing and personal growth.
