Channing Tatum's years-long separation battle with his ex-wife, Jenna Dewan, continues amid his blossoming relationship with Zoë Kravitz.
The "Magic Mike" star spent the weekend with his gorgeous fiancée at Taylor Swift's million-dollar mansion. However, he couldn't fully immerse himself in the vacation because of his ex's recent motion to disqualify his divorce attorneys.
Channing Tatum was forced to sign his response to Jenna Dewan's petition while celebrating Blake Lively's 37th birthday with his fiancée, Zoë Kravitz. The party was hosted at Taylor Swift's home.
Channing Tatum Accuses Ex-Wife Of Prolonging Their Resolution
According to new court documents, Tatum moved to dismiss his ex-wife's claims about his divorce attorneys. Dewan argued that the firm he hired to represent him in their divorce settlement had worked with him during their marriage.
She labeled the law firm a conflict of interest in their case and implored the court to toss them out. However, her ex-husband slammed her petition as "another delay tactic to prolong the resolution of our financial settlement," describing it as:
"A transparent attempt to divert the court's attention from her willful violation of her court order deposition and discovery deadlines, delay these proceedings and to prejudice [Channing]."
The documents obtained by In Touch accused Dewan of attempting to oust Tatum's "lead trial counsel less than three months before trial on a case that has been pending for more than six years."
Tatum Refuted Dewan's Conflict Of Interest Claim
Tatum explained that the law firm never represented Dewan during their marriage; therefore, her conflict of interest argument held no merit. Part of his rebuttal read:
"Neither law firm has ever had any possession of any of Petitioner's confidential information. And, there is no applicable legal authority to support Petitioner's claim that the attorney-client privilege extends to a spouse of a minority shareholder of a business entity."
Tatum also refuted Dewan's allegations that he had refused to turn over the financial documents needed in their divorce. "Contrary to [Jenna's] claims, [Channing] has fully complied with his discovery obligations," the documents revealed, adding:
"And thus, that is not and cannot be a basis to delay the Court-ordered depositions and discovery or other Court-ordered deadlines any further."
The Actor Wants His 'Step Up' Co-star Punished For Her Petition
The TV personality doubled down on his claims of Dewan's wrongdoings, stressing that she knew about the firm since May 2024. "Yet, she waited until the eve of [Jenna's] deposition (two months later) to make the baseless allegations," he argued.
On that note, Tatum implored the court to deny Dewan's "frivolous" motion. He also wants her sanctioned for her actions with a $20,000 bill, claiming it would "deter such obstreperous conduct in the future."
Tatum and Dewan split in 2018 but have been unable to settle the division of their community property. The main issue stemmed from the actor's "Magic Mike" profits, with his ex-wife fighting for a 50% cut.
On the other hand, Tatum argued that she deserved a smaller percentage. This disagreement, among other issues, will be addressed at a trial in December.
Tatum Doesn't Want To Pay Spousal Support
A few days before his latest legal filing, The Blast reported that Tatum doubled down on his refusal to pay spousal support. He argued that Dewan's request was inappropriate, declaring:
"I do not believe [Jenna's] request for spousal support is appropriate. We had a short-term marriage of eight years and eight months and separated over six years ago."
Tatum noted his ex-wife's financial capability, adding, "[Jenna] works, is able to contribute to her own support, and will receive one-half of the community property residuals and royalties and income from other investments."
Channing Tatum Parties With Zoë Kravitz At Taylor Swift
Tatum reportedly signed his response to Dewan's petition on Monday, August 26, at Watch Hill, Rhode Island. He visited the area with his fiancée for a weekend getaway at Taylor Swift's $17 million home.
He and Kravitz partied with the singer for Blake Lively's 37th birthday bash, which was hosted in Swift's mansion. TMZ noted the event was a star-studded occasion with Bradley Cooper, Gigi Hadid, Patrick Mahomes, and his wife, Brittany Mahomes, in attendance.
Despite his issues with Jenna Dewan, Channing Tatum didn't let their differences stop him from having a great time with his fiancée, Zoë Kravitz.
