Sarah Michelle Gellar is doing her part to help stop the spread of COVID-19 and letting fans know all the reasons she decided to get a vaccination. The iconic "Buffy the Vampire" star took to Instagram this week while sharing a photo of herself getting an injection at a vaccination site run by the Los Angeles Fire Department. Gellar's declaration comes right after the star was revealed to be involved in a new pilot for Amazon Studios based on a popular book.

While rolling up one of the arms of her vintage Prince t-shirt, and wearing her mask, Sarah Michelle Gellar proudly took her 2nd dose of the coronavirus vaccine and wrote about how happy she was to be fully vaccinated.

"I am proud to say that I am fully vaccinated against #covid_19. As someone who suffers from severe asthma, and has been hospitalized because of it, this last year has been really scary," Gellar wrote.

The star continued with a message about who else she thought about while receiving her vaccination.

"I didn’t just get this shot for me. I got it for all the immune compromised people," the TV star declared.

She continued, "I got it for every person that lost a loved one due to covid. I got it, in the hopes that all kids can return safely to school. I got it, for all people who found themselves suddenly unemployed due to covid, in the hopes they can get back on their feet. I got it for all the families that in a moment, found themselves food insecure and worried where their next meal would come from. I got it because I miss my friends and family and hugs. This wasn’t just about me. It’s about all of us. Thank you to everyone that made this day possible for me."

Sarah Michelle Gellar, who has been incredibly supportive of her friend Selma Blair's health issues over the past few years, has also been open about her own journey through life while battling scoliosis but had not previously mentioned her issues with asthma.

The vaccination news is also good for Gellar as she has just signed on to star in Amazon Studios' new project, "Hot Pink," which, according to Deadline, is "loosely inspired by Elana K. Arnold’s National Book Award finalist What Girls Are Made Of."
