The 'Savage' Rapper Sparked Beef Speculations At The 2023 VMAs

Although she is returning to the upcoming VMAs as a host, Megan is no stranger to the award show. At last year's event, The Blast reported that she sparked feud speculations with Justin Timberlake following their encounter backstage.

A backstage clip from MTV's live feed captured Megan engaging in what appeared to be a heated exchange with the "Mirrors" singer.

Although fans assumed the pair had gotten into an argument, sources close to the situation explained that there was no bad blood. According to the insider, Timberlake allegedly said, "'It's so nice to meet you,' and she said, 'No, no, this don't count, this don't count. We gotta meet proper.'"

The 29-Year-Old Finalized Her Differences With Her Former Record Label

A month after her VMAs drama with Timberlake, The Blast shared that Megan had settled her issues with her former record label, 1501 Certified Entertainment. The pair settled their nasty legal battle in October 2023 after a years-long fight.

The pair had been at odds for three years, fighting over the employment contract that Megan deemed "unconscionable." The label's president, Carl Crawford, announced their settlement in a statement, writing:

"Both Megan and 1501 are pleased to put this matter behind them and move forward with the next chapter of their respective businesses."

Crawford also stressed that he and 1501 Certified Entertainment wished "Megan the very best in her life and career." The pair became enemies after the rapper contested the contract she signed with them in 2018.

According to Megan's arguments, 1501 Certified Entertainment deceived her into signing an unfair record deal that fell far below industry standards. She allegedly didn't realize the problem until she entered a new management agreement in 2019.

Her deal with Roc Nation provided her with legal counsel, who helped her understand the inadequacies of her previous arrangement with 1501 Certified Entertainment. Megan filed multiple lawsuits against her former label, accusing them of unfairness.

The rapper alleged that 1501 had "systematically failed" to pay adequate royalties and had "wrongfully allowed for excessive marketing and promotion charges." She accused them of fraud for taking 60% of her profits instead of the industry's typical 50/50 split.
