Pete Davidson has reportedly not quit rehab, contrary to recent reports that he checked out after just two weeks.
The popular comic had checked into a wellness facility sometime last month after canceling more than half a dozen gigs he was scheduled to perform in.
Pete Davidson's new stint in rehab follows his breakup with actress Madelyn Cline, whom he dated for less than a year.
The Comedian Is Working On 'Bettering His Mental Health'
Last month, Davidson returned to rehab for another stint, shocking fans who had hoped to see him at a couple of his shows scheduled for this summer.
Although some reports suggested that the comedian recently left the wellness facility where he was undergoing a "treatment program," a source close to him has clarified that Davidson is still checked in, hinting that he is committed to seeing it through.
"Pete remains in his treatment program," a source told Page Six about the 30-year-old.
According to the insider, the "Saturday Night Live" alum wants "privacy at this time" and is currently focusing on "bettering his mental health" during his stay in rehab.
It hasn't been disclosed when Davidson will complete the program. However, any hope of him fulfilling his scheduled gigs has been dashed, as the comedian canceled all of them, including those planned as far out as October this year.
Why Pete Davidson Checked Into Rehab
At the time Davidson checked into rehab, it was revealed that the comedian did so to work on his mental health issues, including his borderline personality disorder.
"Pete will often check himself into rehab to work on these issue," a source told People Magazine. They also claimed that the actor has the full support of his friends and family.
Still, some have tied the actor's decision to go into rehab with his heartbreak over splitting from actress Madelyn Cline.
The two were first linked in September 2023 and dated for less than a year before calling off their romance in July 2024.
For most of their relationship, they kept things under the radar and have yet to speak publicly about their breakup.
While it is unclear what led to the split, it was reportedly done in an "amicable" manner, per the US Sun.
Pete Davidson Jokes That All He Has Left Is 'Weed'
Recently, Davidson jokingly admitted that despite his efforts to quit other substances, he still struggles to give up marijuana.
During his "Pete Davidson: Rehab Tour" in Atlantic City, he told the audience, "I can't quit weed yet. It's all I have left."
He recounted his history with various drugs, stating: "I did coke and ketamine and f-cking all the pills and all that sh-t. All I have is weed left, so it's almost over, but I'm holding on for a little bit longer."
He Has Been Open About His Mental Health Struggles
Back in 2018, Davidson revealed that he was diagnosed with borderline personality disorder in addition to the many other mental issues he has struggled with since he was a child.
"I found out I have BPD, which is borderline personality disorder," the comedian said on the WTF with Marc Maron podcast, per People. "This has been the worst year of my life, getting diagnosed with this and trying to figure out how to learn with this and live with this."
In an interview with Variety the following year, he revealed that he began having stints in mental health facilities as early as nine years old and even tried to kill himself.
"I've been in and out of mental health facilities since I was 9," he told the outlet. "I tried to drown myself in the pool when I was in the fourth or fifth grade. I was trying to get my head stuck in the ladder in the deep end so I would not be able to get up. But I'm too much of a p-ssy, and my head is too small."
Pete Davidson Released A Netflix Special
Earlier in the year, Davidson released a new comedy special, "Turbo Fonzarelli," on Netflix.
The comedian's one-hour special covered "what it means to grow up and turn 30" and discussed other details like "love, life, and living in the woods."
It was his second special with the streaming giants, previously releasing "Pete Davidson: Alive From New York" in 2020.
The comedian also stars as Max in the upcoming American psychological horror thriller "The Home," directed by James DeMonaco and produced by Bill Block. The movie is currently in post-production, and a release date has yet to be announced.
Additionally, he is involved in other film projects, including "Riff Raff," "The Pickup," and "Wizards!"
