Beyonce's Mom Tina Knowles Rekindles Static Divorce From Richard Lawson

Beyoncé's mom, Tina Knowles, is done waiting to be divorced!

The 70-year-old is set to sign the dotted lines of divorce from Richard Lawson after stalling for a year and move on with her life as a single lady.

Tina Knowles, who filed the motion for the dissolution in 2023, has now handed Richard Lawson the necessary financial information to finalize the divorce.

Tina has fulfilled an integral part of her divorce process by turning in her own financial reports to the court, although Richard has yet to file paperwork confirming he has done the same.

The 70-year-old cited irreconcilable differences as a reason for their separation during her filing in 2023, after eight years with Richard as a married couple.

Her filing included more requests, including a plea that the court terminate its ability to award spousal support to both parties and legally revert her last name to Knowles.

The estranged couple exchanged vows in 2015 on a yacht in Newport Beach, California, in front of their family and friends.

Tina and Richard's star-studded wedding guest list includes her daughters — Beyonce and Solange Knowles, Jay Z, Kelly Rowland, Michelle Williams, and Samuel L. Jackson, and Richard's kids- Richard and Bianca Lawson, 

According to In Touch, at the time of their union, Tina had the nicest words to describe her walking down the aisle with her friends and family watching. She declared:

"To know that at 61 you can still find love and have a magical day like that it was really beautiful."

The estranged couple's marriage definitely had its ups. Two years before their split, Richard took to social media to reminisce about their meeting and their love story six years after saying "I do."

"Dear Teene B, 39 years ago, my sister Gwen (RIP),  your best friend, introduced us. I thought you were one of the most beautiful women I had ever met. Breathtaking!!" he wrote.

The actor raved about Tina's striking beauty, enhanced by her "incredible heart, compassion, empathy, generosity, and philanthropy." Despite her being married and pregnant with Beyonce at their first meeting, Richard confessed that he remained very attracted to her.

Richard added: "As we remained friends throughout the years, I took great pleasure in observing you become the ultimate mother, especially for your own daughters, but also for the way you care for and nurture women all over the world.

He noted that it took 32 years for his attraction to the business mogul to come full circle, but "It was well worth the wait." The 77-year-old concluded his tribute with more adoration for his wife and wrote: 

"You're a revolutionary, visionary, incredible artist, a fashion icon, a leader, a cultural beacon, a hot sexy ratchet God warrior and only second to God, You are my wife. How highly favored Am I???"

Richard was Tina's second attempt at marriage after she got out of a 30-year marriage with Beyonce and Solange's dad in 2009.

Tina declared that her marriage with Matthew was "insupportable because of discord or conflict of personalities," which hindered any "reasonable expectation of reconciliation" between them.

Their marriage, which produced their two superstar daughters, was finally dissolved in 2011, and Beyonce wrote her 2014 hit "Ring Off" about the demise of her parent's marriage.

At the moment, Tina and Richard have not publicly addressed the reason for their nearly ten-year marriage's breakdown

Despite the lack of comment from both parties about their split, fans speculated that Tina's old comment about Richard's flawed nature may have been a contributing factor.

The resurfaced video, which The Blast noted was from the estranged couple's appearance on Oprah Winfrey's "Black Love," captured the 70-year-old talking about her struggles with self-worth in a previous relationship.

She also spoke on the importance of patience and shared that she found love at 59 with Richard after praying for the type of man she desired. Tina then followed up her statement, declaring:

"Is he perfect? Absolutely not, but he has a lot of the qualities that I love," a confused Richard  asked, "No?" To which Tina affirmed her earlier statement, "No."

Tina seemingly addressed the narratives surrounding the video, which went viral as soon as the public caught wind of her split from the actor on July 27, 2023.

She borrowed a quote from Michael J. Fox, which read: "I am careful not to confuse excellence with perfection. Excellence, I can reach for; perfection is God's business,' and she posted it on her Instagram page.

The mom of two then accompanied it with a lengthy caption declaring that "any human being who thinks that they are perfect, or someone else could be perfect, is delusional!!"

She concluded and, hopefully, put all the speculations to rest by adding, "I believe that Only God is perfect."

Tina and Lawson debuted as a couple at the 2013 Angel Ball in New York City after several decades of great friendship.

In October 2014, one year after their debut, US Weekly noted that the couple attended the same event, sparking engagement rumors.

Tina admitted to being the happiest she had been in a "long, long time." The wedding bells rang in April 2015 and in 2017, The 77-year-old actor revealed that he asked Beyonce and Solange for their blessings before popping the big question to their mother.

Tina and Richard also cofounded the Where Art Can Occur (WACO) Theater Center in Los Angeles in 2017. The center was commissioned to "develop artistic works to provide artists and young people a platform and voice to showcase their creativity."

The estranged couple spent the rest of 2021 till early 2023 penning tributes to each other and attending events in each other companies. Things sadly took a turn in July 2023, and after a slight hiatus in the divorce proceedings, the businesswoman is ready to move on to future endeavors.
