Mariah Carey likely didn’t intend to topple over in her impossibly high heels, but it was all caught on camera as she stepped out in a tiny minidress back in 2016. In May of that year, the Grammy-winning singer was photographed at NBC Upfronts in NYC, where she was promoting her new reality series. Putting on an eye-popping display in her favorite minidress look, Mariah sizzled in her gold-and-black number, going glam and sparkly and braving an incredibly challenging pair of Christian Louboutin heels. Proving that even seasoned heel wearers can suffer a mishap, the now 55-year-old took a painful-looking tumble, and she made instant headlines for the awkward moment.

Going leggy in her plunging dress, the mom of two showed plenty of skin via her busty neckline, with the form-fitting, shiny fabrics also doing wonders for her waistline. Upping the ante in fishnet stockings, Mariah completed her red carpet look with a black, open-toe pair of heels, where the signature red sole was a dead Christian Louboutin giveaway.

Taking a full-on tumble as one of her shoes fell right off, Mariah found herself compromised in a position that could easily have led to a twisted ankle. With her face understandably grimacing from shock as she was photographed mid-fall, the pop sensation lifted her arms up to counter the fall, although fortunately, she did have others around to assist her. While The Daily Mail described Mariah Carey as being “on the brink of a meltdown” due to the incident, the blonde did find her composure afterward, with a photo showing her back in both shoes.

Mariah Carey’s style can best be summed up as girly, jazzy, and nearly always including a high heel.
