Travis Kelce's dad, Ed Kelce, has taken a shot at Kanye West after the rapper's new song included lyrics referencing his son's girlfriend, Taylor Swift.
Ed made a scathing remark about the song in a post on his Facebook page, where he also tagged an article discussing the lyrics.
In the past, Kanye West referenced Taylor Swift in other songs, contributing to ongoing tension between the two.
Travis Kelce's Dad Blasts Kanye West For Name-Dropping Taylor Swift In New Song
There seems to be no shortage of individuals in the Kelce family ready to defend themselves from perceived attacks by outsiders.
In this context, the family patriarch, Ed, has taken a swipe at rapper West after featured artist Lil Wayne mentioned Swift in the lyrics of his new track, "Lifestyle."
Swift is currently dating Ed's son Travis, who is the Kansas City Chiefs tight end.
Not only did Wayne name-drop Swift, but he also referenced Travis Kelce, rapping, "I twist my Taylor spliffs tight at the end like Travis Kelce."
It seems the line didn't sit well with Ed, who, on Facebook, seemingly made a brutal comment about West having "mental illness on full display."
The statement from Ed seemed to allude to West's history of being bipolar, an illness he has been open about in the past.
Ed Kelce Has Defended Taylor Swift And Travis Kelce From Critics In The Past
In February, Ed took to his Facebook account to call out "Real Housewives of New York City" star Bethenny Frankel for continuously mocking his son's relationship with Swift.
Sharing a Newsweek article titled "Bethenny Frankel stands by her criticism of Travis Kelce," Ed expressed his disdain for the reality TV star, questioning, "Who TF is this troll?"
Frankel's remarks in the article included speculation on Swift and Kelce's relationship longevity, suggesting that balancing fame and personal life could be challenging for the couple.
"When you get into real life and you get into kids and marriage and things like that… it's not easy [and] relationships take work. And it's hard because Taylor Swift is certainly a peacock," Frankel said in the clip. "So they really usually can only be one peacock in a relationship."
Fans React To Kanye West Name Dropping Taylor Swift
On social media, fans have blasted West for his continued attempts to name-drop Swfit in his songs despite their perceived bad blood.
One wrote, "[Ye] doing everything he can do get that #1 from Taylor lol. i just know he's destroying himself as we speak. That man can't even think straight without Kim; it's crazy. even his fans know he's mentally ill. Taylor really did get him and ended his career."
A second user commented, "I can't believe I'm posting this again (i can), but kan/ye, AGAIN, making distasteful lines about Taylor in his music even though she hasn't paid him any mind in years."
Kanye West Has Named Dropped Taylor Swift On Other Occasions
In the past, West has named-dropped the female popstar, even in the preceding album to "Vultures 2."
In one of the songs, "Carnival," the Yeezy CEO mentioned Swift alongside several popular celebrities who have been deemed controversial.
"Now I'm Ye Kelly, b-tch, now I'm Bill Cosby, b-tch, now I'm Puff Daddy rich, that's Me Too rich. I mean since Taylor Swift, since I had a Rollie on the wrist. I'm the new Jesus, b-tch," West said in a line from the song, which had a couple of expletives.
In his 2016 song, Famous, West also added Swfit to his lyrics, using words that were sexually suggestive.
He said, "For all my South Side n----s that know me best, I feel like me and Taylor might still have sex. Why? I made that b-tch famous."
Taylor Swift Accused Kanye West Of Trying To Destroy Her Career
At the time, Kanye West faced significant backlash for his vulgar lyrics. However, the situation shifted when a video released by West's ex-wife suggested that Swift had approved the lyrics of the song.
Swift then became the target of critics, whom she described in a Time interview as "hyenas" who "climbed on and took their shots" at her amid the situation.
She also shared that the incident made her feel like her "career was taken away" from her, adding that it was "a career death.
"You have a fully manufactured frame job, in an illegally recorded phone call, which Kim Kardashian edited and then put out to say to everyone that I was a liar," Swift told the outlet.
She added, "That took me down psychologically to a place I've never been before. I moved to a foreign country. I didn't leave a rental house for a year. I was afraid to get on phone calls. I pushed away most people in my life because I didn't trust anyone anymore. I went down really, really hard."
