Demi Lovato Shamed In Skimpy Swimsuit For Not Being 'Slender'

Demi Lovato may have gained over 1 million Instagram likes for her Hawaii swimwear snaps this year, but she nonetheless wound up body-shamed. Sharing a carefree boat shot to open her May share, the 31-year-old singer looked the picture of health, also checking boxes for some seriously stylish swimwear. All smiles as she flaunted her fit figure, Demi modeled a chic strapless swimsuit that highlighted her curves perfectly, but the shamers just couldn't keep away. When the post was covered by The Daily Mail, users challenged the outlet's description of Demi as "slender," with many also accusing the former Disney star of editing her photo.

Channeling slight retro vibes from her bandeau finish, the "Confident" hitmaker flashed her toned legs and slimmed-down waist, also looking summery with her hair styled into a simple bob. Posing barefoot from a small yacht headed toward a dramatic rock arch, Demi seemed to be enjoying her day on the water, one including the amazing dolphin watching seen in a swipe right.

Sharing moments with friends and fiance Jutes in a swipe right, Demi kept her gallery beachy, also including a gorgeous shorefront shot showing golden sands. "Kauaiiiiii," a caption read.

On May 24, The Daily Mail called Demi Lovato "slender" as it reposted moments from the singer's gallery. "Not slender. Photoshopped and filtered," one fan said, with over 140 others agreeing. Joining the party, another cruelly wrote: "Slender hahaha." Lovato was also told: "Sorry, but no she doesn't look slender."

Demi, who is a mental health warrior, is largely respected for having opened up about her eating disorder battles, ones that commenced in childhood. The star has been body-shamed up the wazoo, and despite this, she's chosen to share totally unedited Instagram photos, even showing her cellulite.

Turning Hollywood norms on their head with this Bora Bora photo, Demi Lovato posed from a glam Four Seasons property while overlooking blissful ocean waters, but it was her unedited bikini body that made the real headlines. "This is my biggest fear. A photo of me in a bikini unedited," she captioned the 2019 photo, adding: "And guess what, it’s CELLULIT!!!!"

"I'm just literally sooooo tired of being ashamed of my body, editing it (yes the other bikini pics were edited - and I hate that I did that but it’s the truth) so that others think I’m THEIR idea of what beautiful is, but it’s just not me," she continued.
