Mike "The Situation" Sorrentino is extremely proud of being five years sober, but he recognized that he couldn't have done it alone.

The "Jersey Shore" star shared a pensive photo of himself holding a book that changed his life on Thursday, March 18. The Situation posed holding the "big book of Alcoholics Anonymous" and credited the program with helping him during difficult times. "For those of you who do not know what this book is, it saves the lives of countless individuals each year," Sorrentino said. The reality star says his mission to encourage people to get help is more important now than ever before because he is about to welcome a baby boy with his wife, Lauren Sorrentino.

"Most of you know that I struggled with addiction to pills, but this program can be related to any addiction or substance that you use," The Situation wrote. "It is a program of fellowship, and changing perspective and perception."

"When I first got out of treatment, I followed the suggestions that were given to me," the "Jersey Shore" star continued. "I went to a meeting every day, I did treatment for close to a year, I got a sponsor, and I started working the steps. These suggestions put me on the path to recovery and helped make the man that stands before you with 5 years clean and sober."

Sorrentino, who started his own recovery project called The Hope Dealer, specifically said that he supports all forms of treatment and recovery while describing his experience with Alcoholics Anonymous. "I wanted to share this because I support all avenues of help! Whether that is going to treatment, or going to meetings. AA, NA, CA, or any other A, there is help out there waiting for you," he said.

Mike revealed that his unborn son inspired him to push harder to help others on their journey to recovery. "Now more than ever, as I am about to bring a little man into this world, I want to help create a world where people are not ashamed to get the help they need."

Mike's post comes hours after his wife, Lauren, shared some gorgeous photos to celebrate the 29th-week mark. Sorrentino also credited his strong wife for helping him stay sober. "I’m thankful for the love Lauren has shown me and for the strength she has given me during my recovery journey," he wrote on social media. "If it weren’t for her support, I wouldn’t be standing here today with over 5 years of sobriety."
