Lil Baby continues to be one of the hottest artists in the world as 2020 was definitely the biggest year of his career. He had a No. 1 album along with a myriad of hit singles. Baby was nominated twice at the 2021 GRAMMYS over the weekend but didn't win any. Baby explained beforehand though how winning awards isn't a huge priority in his career. The Atlanta rapper discussed this in an interview with MTV News. This was conducted virtually.

Baby Says 'His People' Would Love The Awards But He Wakes Up The Same Way With Or Without Awards

Baby noted that his loved ones would cheer these wins for awards. For himself though, it will always be business as usual.

"I mean, for my people, it'll mean a lot, but for me, I wake up the same way I went to sleep the night before I won," Baby explained. "But for my people, just to say I won and just, I'm wit it for that. But just far as me, I ain't into it like that."

Baby Says He Continues To Stay Humble

Baby also explained that he just does what he has to do as an artist. He even showed humility by explaining that he's just a regular guy and remains humble.

"For the most part, my body here, but my mind and soul don't be here. So, a lot of stuff I do, I just let my body do it and my mind be somewhere else. I don't get too wrapped up into it. To me, I'm a regular dude. But my body, Lil Baby, he famous. In my head, I can kinda step back a little bit and be a regular person. That's how I stay humble."

Baby's 'The Bigger Picture' Single Was Nominated For Both Of His Nominations At GRAMMYs

The song by Baby that was nominated was "The Bigger Picture" for Best Rap Song and Best Rap Performance. This record was released last summer in dedication to the nationwide protests in the United States against racism and police brutality. Baby also performed this record at the GRAMMYS as the start of the performance displayed an incident of police brutality against an unarmed Black man. This situation is sadly far too common in the US today.

Lil Baby's 2020 'My Turn' Album Is 3x Platinum In The US

Lil Baby's huge 2020 all started after his second studio album, "My Turn," was released in late February. At the time, it was led by the singles "Woah" and "Sum 2 Prove," which all ended up being certified platinum by the RIAA in the US. My Turn debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 chart over Bad Bunny's "YHLQMDLG" album. Other hits that came from My Turn were "Emotionally Scarred" and "We Paid," featuring 42 Dugg, which appeared on the deluxe edition in May. Other appearances on the album included Gunna, Lil Uzi Vert, Lil Wayne, Future, and more.
