Christina Applegate has had only one plastic surgery procedure, which was not all the way willingly, according to the actress.
The 52-year-old, who was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis (MS) in June 2021, opened up about her experience with going under the knife and blamed it on pressure from a particular person.
Christina Applegate was just 27 when she decided to make the huge physical adjustment to look better in front of the cameras.
Christina Applegate Was Pressured Into Eye Bag Removal Procedure
The movie star spoke her truth on the Tuesday episode of her and Jamie-Lynn Sigler's "Messy" podcast, where she declared to have done just one plastic surgery procedure, and it was greatly influenced by one of the producers on a movie set she was on.
The actress, who was 27 at the time, continued that the producer spotted the bags under her eyes and admitted to "having a lot of trouble lighting" under her eyes as the bags were so "big."
But things did not end there, as the producer suggested Applegate remove the bags and she did not have any other choice at such a young age and a promising career trajectory.
Applegate's eye bags did not occur by accident; the actress noted that they were "a hereditary thing" and that her dad had similar "Louis Vuitton luggage under his eyes."
The reality star was clear in her criticism of the producer for shaming her and planting seeds into her head to find fault with her appearance.
The 'Jesse' Star Tackled A Troll For Shaming Her
Since going under the knife, Applegate has made it a point to condemn body shamers and last year, she called out someone for passing snide comments about her appearance.
Applegate had an exchange with a troll last year after they speculated that she had surgery done amid her struggles with multiple sclerosis, which she was diagnosed with in 2021.
The mom of one narrated the ordeal in a 2023 tweet, which began with her going through the comments on an article about her and her children (daughter and stepdaughter) at the Critics Choice Awards.
She then engaged the commenter about their hurtful remarks, who then replied by alleging the Golden Globe nominee has a bad plastic surgeon.
The 52-year-old continued in her tweet that she laughed out loud at the comment offline and later asked, "What is wrong with people?"
Multiple Sclerosis Did Not Stop Applegate From Compiling A Bucket List
The actress has been public about her diagnosis of Multiple Sclerosis since 2021, and also with her wild dreams and aspirations.
Applegate did not let the autoimmune disease that impacts the central nervous system stop her from planning memorable moments for her future. She took to X to reveal some items she planned to cross off her bucket list. She declared:
"There are things I want to do with the days I have left in life. I want to work with Shirley MacLaine and do shots with Cher! And yes my days are so big. Just saying."
The Blast shared that the actress has displayed total commitment to her craft amid her health issues and completed her series "Dead to Me" as proof of that.
Applegate has had a celebrated career, including bagging multiple SAG Award nominations for her awesome screen performances, but her 2023 SAG Award takes the cake so far.
"It's my last awards show as an actor, probably, so it's kind of a big deal. Right now, I couldn't imagine getting up at 5 a.m. and spending 12 to 14 hours on a set; I don't have that in me at this moment," the mom of one explained.
The Actress Planned To Transition From Acting To Producing
Now that she would not be acting much anymore, the actress revealed that she would pick a new path that involved "doing a sh-t ton of voice-overs to make some cash," as the need to secure a stable future for her daughter, Sadie, is paramount.
When she is not acting or directing, Applegate loves indulging in many recreational activities, including binge-watching reality television shows she has never had time for before.
However, the binge-watching part does not extend to watching her own Netflix comedy, as she expressed that there is a certain discomfort that comes from watching herself struggle on screen.
Avoiding her project lasted only a short time. Apparently, Applegate finally buckled up and watched her show alone, although she had to pause during emotional moments.
Applegate's decision to revisit her work came with a fresh perspective as she was finally able to distance herself from her own ego.
She said she "realized what a beautiful piece of television it was" and added that all the scenes without her were not so much fun to see and experience for the very first time.
Christina Applegate Adopted A Humorous Mechanism Amid MS Diagnosis
Despite her MS symptoms, the actress shared her coping mechanism in 2022 with Kelly Clarkson on "The Kelly Clarkson Show."
The Blast noted that Applegate replied to the host's question on whether she is "naturally optimistic" when sick or fighting something because humor and very dark humor worked for her (Clarkson).
The 62-year-old agreed with Clarkson's statement, admitting, "Yeah, my humor shield keeps me ok. Um, but of course, down on the insides, you feel the things, and I do it to kind of deflect and make people not be scared to be around me."
Christina Applegate continues to push the boundaries, and being open and honest is one way she is going about it!
