Jonathan Majors is less than thrilled about Marvel's Doctor Doom announcement.

While the actor has no issue with the character, he revealed in a new interview that he was "heartbroken" because it meant that Marvel had pivoted away from his Kang the Conqueror role.

Jonathan Majors was fired from the MCU in the wake of his being found guilty of assault and harassment charges.

Fans of Marvel were recently surprised by the news that Robert Downey Jr. will be returning to the franchise, this time as Doctor Doom in upcoming Marvel films, after previously playing the beloved character Iron Man.

While many have begun anticipating seeing Downey Jr. embrace the role, former Marvel star Majors does not appear to be too happy with the direction the film company is taking.

In a new interview with TMZ, Majors expressed that he was "heartbroken" about the situation, which seems to mark the end of his character, Kang the Conqueror.

"Yeah, heartbroken. Of course,” Majors said in response to being asked if he was upset by Marvel's new changes. He added, "I love Kang. Doctor Doom is wicked, though.”

Kang was originally proposed to be the leading villain in upcoming Marvel films, but Majors' misdemeanor assault and harassment charges led to him being fired from the role.

He had already played the role in "Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania" and the "Loki" series and was expected to be the titular star in the fifth Avengers film, "Avengers: The Kang Dynasty."

However, this has now been replaced by "Avengers: Doomsday," where Robert Downey Jr. will make his debut.

When Majors was asked if he was saddened by the fact that other actors like Downey Jr. and DC star Ezra Miller, who both had past indiscretions, were allowed to make comebacks while he was not, Majors avoided answering directly.

However, his expression suggested that he believed he wasn't treated fairly in comparison to the others.

Still, Majors has left open the door for a possible return to playing Kang the Conqueror if Marvel wants, as he revealed he is very much in "love" with the character.

In the meantime, Marvel has yet to make any official announcement about the future of Kang the Conqueror in the MCU.

Many have hinted at the possibility of the role being recast, but given the film giant's current direction, that remains to be seen.

The Actor Was Recently Found Guilty Of Assaulting And Harassing His Ex-Girlfriend

Last year, Majors faced domestic violence charges following an altercation with ex-girlfriend Grace Jabbari, as reported by The Blast.

That same year, he was found guilty of "assault by recklessly causing physical injury, as well as harassment." In contrast, the "charges of aggravated harassment and assault with intent to cause physical harm" were declined.

Although the possibility of spending a year in jail was speculated as punishment for the actor, this was not the case.

After the guilty verdict, the judge sentenced him to "conditional discharge" as both the prosecution and defense felt that the charges "did not warrant a jail term."

However, Majors was forced to attend a one-year domestic violence intervention program to deal with his anger issues. He was also asked to continue with mental health therapy and must give constant updates to the court at scheduled times.

In the wake of the domestic violence charges, Majors not only lost his Kang the Conqueror role but was also dropped from several other productions in which he was involved.

However, the lack of a jail term in his punishment seems to have allowed the actor to make a comeback to the film industry.

It was recently announced that he would play a CIA interrogator in a new supernatural revenge thriller, "Merciless."

The project is directed by Martin Villeneuve and produced by Christopher Tuffin of "Sound of Freedom." Filming will take place later this year in Saskatchewan.

Reflecting on working with Majors, Tuffin stated: "In graduate school, I had the good fortune to study screenwriting under 'Blacklist' scribe Millard Lampell and learned from him the dangers of letting politics undermine due process and deprive artists of their careers."

"I consider it an honor and a privilege to be working with Jonathan, who is such a great talent now that this matter has been adjudicated," he added, per Deadline.

Tuffin will produce "Merciless" alongside Kevin Townsend and Kevin DeWalt, with Amanda Delaplaine, Chris Ochs, Andrew Bates, and Ben DeWalt serving as executive producers.
