Ben Affleck Made His Solo Home Purchase On Jennifer Lopez's Birthday After Snubbing Her NYC Party

Ben Affleck showed his petty side to his wife, Jennifer Lopez, with his latest purchase of a $20.5M bachelor pad on her 55th birthday.

His decision is being seen as a slap in the face toward the singer, who just finalized the sale of her penthouse duplex in New York. The couple also listed their marital home in Beverly Hills for sale amid rumors of divorce.

For months, Jennifer Lopez and Ben Affleck have been living separately, and insiders say the divorce is only a matter of time.

Lopez just turned 55 and celebrated with a lavish birthday party in New York. While that was happening, her husband, Affleck, bought himself a new $20.5 million bachelor pad.

According to People Magazine, the actor closed escrow on the palatial property in the Pacific Palisades area of Los Angeles on July 24, the same day Lopez marked her 55th milestone.

The actor's new mansion has five bedrooms, six bathrooms, breakfast and dining spaces, and a separate family room. It also has a den, walk-in closets, a movie room, a powder room, a guest house, and more.

Affleck's decision to buy the property is being branded as the "final insult" to Lopez.

An insider told Radar Online, "JLo had been holding onto hope that there could be a reconciliation if they were to spend some time apart, but this is like a stab in the heart."

Affleck isn't the only one making real estate changes, as Lopez also just finalized the sale of her four-bedroom penthouse in New York.

According to People, the "On the Floor" singer sold the property for $23 million.

Earlier this month, Affleck and Lopez also listed their joint home in Beverly Hills for sale but haven't received any offers yet. They purchased the estate for $60 million in May 2023 to live in with their kids as a family home. The couple are now hoping to sell it for $68 million.

On the reason why they sold the home, an insider told the news outlet that Affleck and Lopez didn't like it because of its distance from his kids and its huge size.

"Ben never liked the house. It's too far away from his kids," a source close to Lopez shared, adding that the singer also thought that "the house is way too big for her."

Affleck's new home is another clear sign that his marriage to Lopez is on the rocks and that the divorce rumors are not far from the truth.

The couple recently celebrated their second wedding anniversary apart, further confirming rumors that they are no longer living together.

Speculations about their marital woes began in May when fans noticed they hadn't been pictures together since March.

At the time, a source told In Touch, "Ben already moved out and they'll likely have to sell the dream house they spent two years searching for. They'll never stop loving each other, but she can't control him, and he can't change her. There's no way it could have lasted."

Affleck and Lopez also noticeably missed many holidays and family events, such as the Fourth of July weekend. The singer celebrated the holiday in the Hamptons with her family and friends, while the "Gone Girl" actor stayed in Los Angeles, where he's been busy filming "The Accountant 2."

While Affleck is busy finalizing the move into his new home, Lopez has been in New York, where she celebrated her birthday in the Hamptons.

For her 55th, the "Monster-in-law" actress hosted a "Bridgerton"-themed birthday, where she looked glamorous in a corseted ball gown. Affleck was noticeably absent from the party.

After the party, Lopez shared an emotional Instagram post thanking her fans for the love and birthday wishes.

She wrote about being "overwhelmed" by the show of love she's received from her millions of fans and declared them as her "biggest gift" on her birthday.

Amid their marital woes, the "Ain't Your Mama" singer is staying positive as she relishes a "fresh start" following her recent birthday celebration.

An insider told Entertainment Tonight that Lopez "is doing her best to stay positive and focus on the great things in her life," adding that she "always loves getting to spend time on the East Coast, especially during the summer."

"It's been nice for her to be surrounded by friends and family who love her," the source continued.

"It has been a hard year with some unexpected realizations, changes, and obstacles, but Jen is trying to view her 55th birthday as a fresh start. She is trying not to let her situation with Ben bring her down," the insider added.
