Ben Affleck has sparked fresh speculations about the state of his marriage with Jennifer Lopez after snapping up a sleek $20.5 million "bachelor pad" in Pacific Palisades.

The couple was understood to be taking some time apart to work on their relationship, but a source has now claimed that Affleck's latest acquisition is the "final insult" to Lopez.

The "Gone Girl" star has reportedly acquired a stunning "bachelor pad" property for $20.5 million in the Pacific Palisades area of Los Angeles. However, reports suggest the move may hamper his chances of reuniting with his wife.

The new mansion boasts five bedrooms and six bathrooms, breakfast and dining areas, a separate family room, a den, walk-in closets, a media room, a powder room, and a guest house.

Before his new home purchase, the Oscar winner had been staying at a $100-a-month Brentwood home near his ex-wife, Jennifer Garner, after moving out of his and Lopez's marital home, which they acquired for $60 million in May last year.

Affleck's solo home purchase has raised eyebrows among insiders, who suspect it may hamper any chances of a reunion with Lopez.

This might be true given the timing of the purchase coinciding with the singer's 55th birthday celebrations, from which Affleck was noticeably absent.

A source told Radar Online, "Ben's decision to move into his own home is the final insult. JLO had been holding onto hope that there could be a reconciliation if they were to spend some time apart, but this is like a stab in the heart."

The pair have not been seen together for months, as Lopez continues to stay in the Hamptons in New York while Affleck remains in L.A.

They missed out on celebrating major events together, like their second wedding anniversary, the Fourth of July holidays, and Lopez's 55th birthday bash.

The couple has yet to secure a buyer for their marital home, which they placed on the market for $68 million.

A source also told People Magazine that they disliked the home because Affleck felt it was too far from his children, and Lopez thought it was too big.

Speculations were rife suggesting that the "Argo" actor was uncomfortable with Lopez's famous lifestyle, with a source telling OK! Magazine that she brought "too much drama" into his life.

Lopez was said to be Affleck's "dream girl," but her lifestyle allegedly caused issues between them as she has a "big entourage that follows her around daily," which Affleck was uncomfortable with.

"She's tried to make Ben understand that being Jennifer Lopez is a 24/7 job," a source told the news outlet. "She is her brand, she lives and breathes it while Ben can leave his work at the door if he chooses to. Jennifer's keeping her head up. She doesn't want to be seen as the villain."

However, an insider has recently refuted those claims that Lopez's fame was an issue for Affleck, noting that their marriage had "deeper" problems.

"The idea that Ben thinks Jennifer is too famous and that he didn't know what he was getting into with the attention on their marriage isn't true," the source told People, adding, "There are deeper issues."
