Simone Biles has done it again! The gymnast is now a 5-time Olympic gold medalist.
The professional athlete has just added to her list of medals at the ongoing Olympic Games in Paris, and she is getting all the praise from the most A-list celebrities.
Simone Biles, alongside her teammates, beat Italy and Brazil on Tuesday afternoon to clinch the first-place title in the final.
Simone Biles Dazzled In Front Of A Power-Packed Audience
The 27-year-old solidified her legendary status alongside Suni Lee, Jordan Chiles, and Jade Carey at the Bercy Area field in Paris to receive a gold medal.
Biles and her winning squad dealt a deserving defeat to Italy and Brazil to come out on top with industry giants in the audience, from Serena Williams, Natalie Portman, and Jason Kelce, beaming with pride and cheers.
The Olympian competed in all four exercises, including the vault, uneven bars, balance beam, and floor, and performed well in each category. Lee also pulled her weight in the uneven bars routine, while Chiles and Carey aced their events, too.
Biles’s husband, Jonathan Owen, was elated in the audience and could be seen cheering on his wife. Nicole Kidman was also not left behind in pomp, as she was spotted giving the athlete a standing ovation.
The gymnast has now climbed the Olympic podium eight times, previously winning four golds and a bronze at the 2016 Rio Games and a silver and a bronze at the 2020 Tokyo Games, per TMZ.
Olympic Legend Nadia Comaneci Prasied The GOAT Gymnast
Hollywood celebrities are not the only ones giving Biles her flowers. Fellow 5-time Olympic gold medalist Comaneci described the 27-year-old as an inspiration for this generation.
Back in March, at the Gold Meets Golden event ahead of the Paris Olympics, the 62-year-old stated that everyone attended to watch Biles compete. She described the technical record Biles broke in her category at that time, saying:
"This is what she's doing now for this generation. She's somewhere so high that everyone is looking at her and saying, 'Yeah, I'm going to try to do that in my own way.'"
The Blast reported that Comaneci also commended Biles's perseverance despite sustaining a calf injury in the qualifying rounds, noting that this sterling trait "makes her a champion."
"She is given this opportunity to understand who you are, break barriers, and inspire the new generation," the Romanian-born gymnast said. Every generation needs someone to inspire them, and she is one of them," the gymnastic legend concluded in her interview.
Like Biles, Comaneci competed as a teenager at the 1976 Summer Games in Montreal, where she had an excellent outing for a 14-year-old.
She was also present at the Opening Ceremony on July 26, alongside other sports icons like Rafael Nadal, Serena Williams, and Carl Lewis on the speedboat that brought the Olympic torch to land.
Biles Coach Was Confident Of The Athlete's Golden Performance
Biles' coach never doubted her success, and the star's recent feats confirm that confidence. The coach declared that the injury scare would not limit Biles' performance in any form, saying:
"She felt a little something in her calf, just a little pain in her calf," declared the coach, who explained that the athlete had experienced similar discomfort earlier in the month and only resurfaced at the event."
The coach commended Biles' ability to stay calm amid pressure and make pain seem easy, and the women's team technical lead, Chellsie Memmel, reiterated Cecile Landi's stance and emphasized the importance of Biles's well-being throughout the rest of the competition.
The star team is still scheduled to appear in more competitions as the event continues, and they are listed below:
- 12:15 p.m. ET Tuesday, July 30: The women's team final begins
