Hilary Duff Has ‘Lightening Crotch’ And Other TMI Pregnancy Confessions From The ‘Younger’ Star

In case you still thought pregnancy was all butterfly and roses here is another reality check from actress Hilary Duff. The “Younger” star recently shared on “The Ellen DeGeneres” show that she is experiencing something called “lightening crotch”. Duff is expecting her third child, second with husband Matt Koma and admits that this is something she has ever experienced before. “I didn’t know about it,” said Duff. “I didn’t have it with my other kids, so I texted my mid-wife the other day and I was like, ‘What’s up with the stabbing pains in my vagina, I’m not feeling this.'”

The actress hilariously recounted the text message with guest host Brooke Baldwin who admitted that she needed a swig of her champagne to get through the story. The midwife casually told Duff it’s “lightning crotch” like it was no big deal however, the 33-year-old begs to differ describing the pain as, “feels awful, like you’re being struck by lightning.” Hence the name. “I was like, ‘this is quite traumatic.’ It’ll just strike and all of a sudden you’re doubled over and then it’s gone. So, the term is actually called ‘lightning,’ [meaning] the baby is getting ready for birth.”

Duff went on to share with Baldwin a few happier facts about the new ache. The pain is actually lowering the baby which actually helps. “So you can actually breathe and get a full supply of air in your lungs, which I haven’t been able to do for months,” she admitted. Duff is only a “couple of weeks” away from giving birth and the parents have decided to not find out the gender of their baby. They already share a daughter, Banks, 2 and Duff has a son with ex-husband Mike Comrie, Luca, 8.

The “Lizzie McGuire” star shared that her third pregnancy was by far her easiest. “I shot a season of the show [Younger] and we were in New York, just busy with the other kids and their lives. I think that’s helpful because I don't have as much time to focus on every ache and pain, or everything that happens, like, ‘the baby is the size of this fruit this week.’” The actress also clarified rumors about the gender of her baby with her every changing hair color. Duff had dyed her hair blue which led fans to speculate that she would be welcoming another son. 

She clarified again, “We don’t know the gender of the baby,” admitting that the year has been weird for everyone. “So, we were just like, this has been a crazy year, let’s do something even more crazy and not find out which baby we’re having. We have one of each and I’m just really looking for that moment, either way we’re sign to be so stoked and so excited, and I think it’s going to be a giggle fest if ‘we thought it was this, and you thought it was this.'”
