Selena Gomez is done with the rumors surrounding her appearance, and she is making it known for the umpteenth time.
The pop star gave a piece of her mind on TikTok over the weekend about the endless speculations suggesting that she always pays a visit to the doctor's table for one beauty procedure or another.
Selena Gomez has always debunked rumors of her getting cosmetic surgery, and she had to stand her ground again over the weekend.
Selena Gomez: 'I Have Botox. That's It'
The 32-year-old was found in Marissa Barrionuevo's comment section, and it was a post asking the content creator to identify the beauty procedure Gomez had taken.
The TikTok influencer is popular on the app for sharing side-by-side comparative pictures of celebrities before and after going under the knife. She works as a physician assistant in a plastic surgery office.
In the 2023 video that caught Gomez's attention, the creator posted her picture but would not comment further on whether she had work done despite pressure from her followers.
Instead, Barrionuevo stated that the singer's years-long health struggle with lupus may have caused a severe change in her physical appearance.
However, the Disney star was not satisfied with how the video ended and would not let its old status deter her from clearing up the ill assumptions, so she took to the comments to air her grievances. She wrote:
"Honestly I hate this. I was on stripes because of flare up. I have Botox. That's it. Leave me alone."
Barrionuevo Reacted To The Actress' Comment On Her Video
Gomez's reaction led to the creator making a new video to apologize and explain her side of the story in a bid to clear up any ill feelings.
"I adore you," the creator declared to Gomez. "I really do mean the best, so I apologize if this rubbed you the wrong way in any way whatsoever.
She continued that she never intended to upset Gomez, noting that she understood why it might have done exactly that to her. Barrionuevo added, "I decided to stop making videos like this last year because of the negative impact it can cause. It was never my intention."
Well, Barrionuevo's apology did not fall on deaf ears as the star replied to her in the comments and wrote: "I love you. Not about you. I just get sad sometimes," with the creator replying: "Me too sister, I love you! Hope one day we can hug and be friends."
The 'Single Soon' Singer Has Had Surgery, Just Not Cosmetic
Although the star clarified that she had done any surgery on her face, she has indeed been at the theatre for another type of surgery following a broken hand.
Gomez shared the news of her hand surgery with fans after the release of her hit single "Single Soon," explaining that she did not care for the song's commercial success, declaring:
"Broke my hand and had surgery. I don't care about selling anything. I'm just happy to make music with my friends."
Per The Blast, Gomez's only focus was making music her fans would enjoy, not for any chart-topping purpose, after a follower shared a report about the single reaching a top spot on the Billboard Hot 100 list.
"Go buy 'Single Soon' on Amazon, on iTunes, stream on Spotify, YouTube, Apple Music! @selenagomez," wrote the Selenator in their bid to promote her smash summer hit. However, the tone soon changed after the star issued her soft disclaimer, and a fan wrote:
"We love the song!! Thank you & you're right! Your health is always more important, and I'm glad you are happy and doing what you love! This doesn't matter; we just love seeing you killing it for 15+ years. You deserve all the success you have, queen."
The multitalented star paid tribute to the iconic show "Sex and the City" in the song's music video, and her little sister Gracie's voice even made a cameo.
Selena Gomez Explained Her Decision To Pull The Plug On Instagram
Since breaking into the limelight, Gomez's social media usage has been controversial. At one point, she left the popular Instagram app for about four years, leaving it to her team to handle everything.
The Blast shared that the singer described it as the best give she gave herself, despite being the most followed woman on the platform, declaring:
"I was more present. I was happier. It's more human. I think it's important to take breaks. You get the chance to actually engage with the world a little bit better; you get the chance to spend your energy in other places."
Gomez continued that she was able to relate more with people in real life instead of scrolling through the app for hours, and she also got to call her friends more
Since her break from the long hiatus, the actress has made a series of short-lived exits on the application but still wears her first-place crown with a massive 425 million followers.
The Rare Beauty CEO Not A Fan Of The Current Beauty Standards
The Disney star has certainly maintained her views about Hollywood's unrealistic beauty standards, which would explain why she took the time to discard rumors of her getting work done on her face.
She declared in the interview that she felt sad about the new "normal" in the world, especially with the use of airbrushing and filters. The beauty CEO explained:
"Personally, I felt that there's a very unrealistic standard when it comes to the cosmetic world and it makes me a little sad for my generation. And for anyone to look at something that's probably touched up and made to look nice is... I just wanted to break that down."
Even though the rumor mills almost never stop, one thing is sure: Selena Gomez is not letting anything shake her standards!
