Matthew McConaughey Wins Gold For ‘Pantalones On The Podium’ Post

Well-known athletes aren't the only ones taking home Gold. As the 2024 Paris Olympicsare just hours away, actor Matthew McConaughey is celebrating his recent win thanks to his original tequila brand.

The "Gold" actor and his wife, Camila, debuted their tequila brand, Pantalones, last year, and the McConaughey's have been shaking up the tequila world ever since.

After unveiling a cocktail inspired by his recent bee sting and another for National Tequila Day, who knows—fans might just get a taste of a Matthew McConaughey Olympics Tequila special next.

The actor's tequila brand has taken home a number of medals, including a Double Gold Sip Award, a Gold L.A. Spirits Award, a Silver L.A. Spirits Award, a Gold San Francisco World Spirits Competition Award, and a Bronze San Francisco World Spirits Competition Award.

"Pantalones on the podium," McConaughey captioned a photo featuring him and his wife wearing several medals ahead of the 2024 Olympics. "Winning medals is fun."

Last year, McConaughey and his wife, Camila, unveiled their latest venture: a premium tequila brand named Pantalones.

“We’re precious about our tequila, not our pants,” he and his wife said in a statement, per People Magazine. “With the explosion in popularity of tequila, there’s a level of snootiness that’s crept into the category. People now talk about tequila the way they talk about wine. While we’re all for being passionate about tequila, we wanted to remind people that, above all, it’s meant to be fun."

“That’s where the name Pantalones came from and that’s why you won’t see us wearing any," they added.

“Blind taste tests, switch ‘em around," she continued to explain."As we got closer, like [samples] thirty to forty-six, we had some, we were like, that’s getting close, but the 47th was when we went, bam,” Matthew said with a snap of his fingers. “That’s the one.”

Bartenders down south have mastered the art of mixing tequila, and one of their top picks is McConaughey's Pantalones.

“It was a no-brainer that we wanted to carry it,” Craig Ley, owner of the Statesman restaurant, in Austin, said. “The gut instinct paid off, because we’re flying through Pantalones.”

For those wishing to try the tequila for themselves, the website is currently selling a 750-milliliter bottle of the Blanco variety for $44.99, the Reposado variety for $49.99, and the Añejo for $54.99.

July 24 was National Tequila Day, so naturally, Matthew McConaughey and Camila celebrated in true style. For the special occasion, Pantalones Organic Tequila dropped a new cocktail called the Sunrise Speedo.
