George Clooney Hails Joe Biden's 'True Leadership' In Kamala Harris Endorsement

George Clooney was filled with praise for President Joe Biden while endorsing Kamala Harris as the ideal successor. 

The actor's statement comes on the heels of the political controversy before the decision to step down, including Donald Trump's recent criticism of Clooney for suggesting Biden should step down.

George Clooney's endorsement emphasized his support for Joe Biden's presidency and Kamala Harris' future prospects.

According to an Associated Press survey, Harris has amassed 2,668 delegates, surpassing the 1,976 needed for the first ballot. In response, Clooney celebrated her securing enough Democratic delegates to become the party's official nominee. 

Clooney's endorsement, announced Tuesday morning to CNN, started off by praising President Joe Biden's leadership. "President Biden has shown what true leadership is. He's saving democracy once again," Clooney enthused. 

The "Ocean's Eleven" star then expressed enthusiasm for Harris, stating, "We're all so excited to do whatever we can to support Vice President Harris in her historic quest."

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Harris has made a striking impact following Biden's endorsement and withdrawal from the race, generating $81 million in grassroots donations within just 24 hours. 

The surge in support was complemented by endorsements from other high-profile celebrities apart from Clooney, such as Demi Lovato, who posted a photo with Harris. 

Subsequently, actress Jamie Lee Curtis praised Harris as a "fierce advocate for women's rights and people of color," adding, "her message is one of HOPE and UNITY for America at her time of great national divide."

Musician John Legend also voiced his enthusiasm for Harris's campaign on Threads, expressing his eagerness to contribute. Additionally, major Democratic donors, previously hesitant, have begun to pledge substantial sums to Harris's campaign.

Clooney's recent praise for Biden's leadership marks a notable reversal from his previous stance advocating for the 81-year-old's exit from the presidential race.

At the time, his statement did not go unnoticed by Trump, who took to Truth Social to criticize the actor's political views. 

The Blast shared that the 78-year-old called Clooney a "fake movie actor" and dismissed his support for Biden, accusing him of parroting Democrat talking points. In his words:

"What does Clooney know about anything? He uses the Democrat' talking point' that Biden, the WORST President in the history of the United States, has 'saved our Democracy.'"

Trump further mocked Clooney's film career, suggesting, "Clooney should get out of politics and go back to television. Movies never really worked for him!!!"

What did Clooney say to provoke Trump's outrage? In his statement, the father-of-two started by expressing deep admiration for Biden's past roles and achievements and describing him as a friend.

However, Clooney's admiration took a critical turn as he acknowledged Biden's struggles with aging. He noted that the current president no longer matches the vigor of his earlier years. The 63-year-old's honest appraisal read:

"It's devastating to say it, but the Joe Biden I was with three weeks ago at the fund-raiser was not the Joe "big F—ing deal" Biden of 2010. He wasn't even the Joe Biden of 2020. He was the same man we all witnessed at the debate." 

Clooney also recalled some of Biden's notable mishaps, such as his fall from Air Force One, pointing out that  Democrats had started "holding their breath or turning down the volume" when watching Biden.

Although Trump labeled Biden as "crooked" following the latters' step-down announcement, new insights suggest that the former president might be more unsettled than he let on. 

The Blast reported that a Florida-based source claimed that Trump "can topple Kamala Harris as easily as he could topple Biden, but down deep, he is scared of her youth."

The insider revealed that Trump acknowledged Harris's potential as a formidable opponent, noting, "This will suck tons of oxygen out of the room. [Trump's] touchdown spotlight will dim for a while."

The source further disclosed, "Of course [Harris] may not be the candidate, but if she is, he is also aware of her political and legal brilliance and deep understanding of the issues facing the American people." 

As George Clooney continues to support Joe Biden and endorses Kamala Harris, her confirmation as the Democratic nominee sets the stage for an interesting presidential election.
