As The Blast previously reported, the shooting occurred around 10 minutes into Trump’s speech at the outdoor rally. The ex-president was observed clutching his right ear before ducking behind the podium as Secret Service agents swiftly came to his aid.
As Trump stood back up, bystanders noticed blood dripping down his right ear and on the side of his face as he pumped his fist in the air, yelling, "Fight!" Secret Service then rushed him to an SUV for safety.
He was immediately brought to Butler Hospital.
Donald Trump Arrived At Butler Hospital After The Rally Shooting
A week after the shooting, a person who was at Butler Hospital when Donald Trump arrived shared a video capturing the moment the Secret Service arrived, and the exact second the former president exited the SUV.
"There he is!" one bystander yelled as the former president is seen exiting the SUV. Another said, "He's walking! He's walking! Thank you, Jesus, he's walking."
After watching the video, numerous Americans shared their reactions, with many expressing how emotional they felt upon seeing the clip. "This made me cry all over again," one TikToker said.
"I could hear the concern in the cameraman's voice. About made me cry again," another said.
"Wow! Thank you for sharing this," a third commented, while a dozen others simply shared praying hand emojis.
The Former President Recalls Shooting At The 2024 RNC
At the 2024 Republican National Convention, former President Donald Trump recounted the events that transpired during his rally in Pennsylvania last weekend.
"I will tell you exactly what happened, and you'll never hear it from me a second time because it's actually too painful to tell," Trump began in his speech. "I went onto the stage, and the crowd [was] cheering wildly. Everybody was happy."
The former president continued, explaining that a "large screen" positioned "to the right" of him displayed a chart of border crossings during his leadership.
"In order to see the chart, I started to turn like this," he demonstrated as he moved his head to the right. "I was ready to begin [turning] a little bit further, which I'm very lucky I didn't do, when I heard a loud whizzing sound and felt something hit me really, really hard on my right ear."
"I said to myself, 'Wow what was that? It could only be a bullet.' And moved my right hand to my right ear, brought it down. My hand was covered with blood," Trump recalled. "Just absolutely blood all over the place. I immediately knew it was very serious that we were under attack."
One Man Dies In The Tragic Shooting
While Donald Trump survived the attempted assassination, Corey Comperatore, a former fire chief, was fatally shot during the attempted assassination of former President Donald Trump.
During the RNC event, Donald Trump paid tribute to the late firefighter. "I want to thank the fire department and the family for sending his helmet and his outfit. It was just something, and they're going to do something very special when they get it," the ex-President said. "But we did something which cannot match what happened."
The Nation Raises Millions
"Not even close, but I am very proud to say that over the past few days, we've raised $6.3 million for the families of David [Dutch], James [Copenhaver], and Corey," he continued. "Including from a friend of mine [who] just called up. He sent me a check right here. I just got it. $1 million from Dan Newland."
"And again, when speaking to the family, I told them, 'Well, I'm going to be sending you a lot of money, but it can't compensate [what happened].' They all said the same thing, 'You're right, sir. We appreciate so much what you're doing, but nothing can take the place of Corey.'"
"So now, I ask that we observe a moment of silence in honor of our friend Corey," he said.
