Katy Perry has received the thumbs-down from her own Instagram followers as footage of her holding a bedazzled electric grill while stripped to a swimsuit is deemed "embarrassing." The pop singer, 39, has been busy promoting her latest "Woman's World" track, one released July 11 and so far receiving very mixed reviews. Having already modeled her glittery, star-spangled swimsuit for a retro pin-up photo on the Fourth of July, Katy returned to Instagram for more six days ago, sharing video footage of herself brandishing a drill as she struck seductive poses in her barely-there swimsuit. Fans, who think the drill is "unstable," mass-slammed the post, suggesting that the whole thing is the opposite of empowerment.

Katy Perry In Swimsuit Shows Off Her Drill

Scroll for the video. Highlighting her recent weight loss as she flaunted her slim, toned frame, Katy used one hand to hold a silver, glittery drill as she modeled her star-spangled swimwear. Flashing her bulging biceps and cleavage as she wore a tool-holder belt over her one-piece, the American Idol judge sang along to her own lyrics while rocking red lipstick, plus her dark locks tied up into a bun and accessorized by a red headscarf.

Keeping her video lighthearted as she also smiled and pouted throughout, Katy looked might pleased with herself as she sent out a confident vibe, but fans weren't feeling it. In a caption, the mom of one wrote: "It’s a Woman’s World and you’re lucky to be drillin in it."

Over 17,000 users liked a comment asking: "Is she having a mid life crisis?" Not far off with over 15,000 likes was a user who wrote: "Is this supposed to make us feel empowered?" Many remarks also came in over the drill. "Christ, at least put the drill bit in correctly," a hugely popular comment read.

'Embarrassing' To Women Who Can Use Drills

Slamming the whole drill thing and appearing to agree with the user who called the power tool "unstable," one fan replied: "This is embarrassing to all the woman who actually know how to use a drill properly." Katy Perry had already faced backlash prior to her single's release on account of her decision to employ controversial producer Dr. Luke for the track. She is set to release her 143 album in September of this year.

Damaging To Ordinary Woman In Home Depot?

Perry has also faced criticism for sexualizing herself while promoting female empowerment. "Female DIYer here. Can we just stop with the bedazzled drills and sexualizing women who actually care to be taken seriously in places like Home Depot? I swear videos like this is what makes it so hard to get respect and not be treated like shit by men. If this is supposed to be female empowerment Im not feeling it," one user replied to the video.
