Dolly Parton is an incredible and talented singer and actress, whose name is on the lips of millions of fans all over the world.

The 75-year-old is worthy of a lot of accolades, as she has continued to show her fans her flawless musical career over the years. 

Yet, even the strong and incredible singer, has had her fair share of struggles and bad experiences in the past. The "Jolene" singer recently revealed the first time she lost a child.

For decades now, Parton has proven herself a legend in both the music and movie industries, but music especially. 

She has released over 900 and counting singles, many of which topped the charts for weeks or months. In 1988, Nashville Business declared the singer the richest country musician when she amassed a net worth of $500 million.

Although there have been twists and turns in her music career, Parton managed to remain consistent in delivering awesome tracks that always swept her fans off their feet.

What Was Parton's Childhood Like?

Growing up in Tennessee, Parton always had people around her because her parents, Robert Lee and Avie Lee Parton, had twelve children. 

Parton once spoke about the events surrounding her birth, which signifies how she has been "raking in the dough ever since."

She told USA Todaythat when her mom's water broke, there were some complications, so her dad went to fetch a doctor to help. When they came back and the baby was finally delivered, Parton's father paid the doctor with a sack of 'cornmeal.'

Parton's Childhood Is Filled With Incredible Stories

Still, on the topic of her childhood, Parton disclosed in an interview with Blank on Blank,that her family only used the bathing soap they made themselves. 

Furthermore, she mentioned that during winter, every child would use a pan of water, but during summer, they were free to stay long hours in the river.

Parton also mentioned that she always had to take a bath because whenever she woke up in the morning, she smelled of pee. 

"....And we all slept together. There were so many of us," Parton said to the interviewer.

Dolly parton Lost 'Her Baby' At Age Nine

According to Parton, her mother had a lot of kids, and sometimes, the responsibility to watch over them fell on her. 

At a young age, her family welcomed a baby boy, whom she named Larry. Her mother tasked her with taking care of the newborn, which included bathing him and seeing to all his needs. 

Sadly, the baby passed away and Parton mentioned that it 'crushed' her and her mother, who was later diagnosed with depression. Larry's death also affected Parton, that she stopped singing for a while, until she got her bearing.
