Ex-convict Gypsy Rose Blanchard is preparing to tell her story in an upcoming memoir,"My Time to Stand."

The 32-year-old gained public attention due to her involvement in a highly publicized criminal case. As The Blast reported, Gypsy was raised by her mother, Dee Dee Blanchard, who subjected her to severe abuse and medical fraud, convincing others that Gypsy had various illnesses and disabilities. Not only did this lead to Gypsy being isolated and overmedicated throughout her childhood, but she was also subjected to unnecessary surgeries.

In 2015, Gypsy conspired with her boyfriend, Nicholas Godejohn, to murder Dee Dee, leading to discussions about Munchausen syndrome by proxy. She was arrested and charged with murder and later pleaded guilty to a reduced charge of second-degree murder. She was sentenced to ten years behind bars and was released on parole in December.

Now that she has been released, Gypsy Rose Blanchard is telling her story in a new tell-all memoir, which will be released later this year.

Shortly after being released on parole, Gypsy Rose Blanchard announced she would be releasing a memoir, telling her side of the story.

“I am in love with the title of my book not only because it addresses the question I get most, but because in our pain and struggle we can find what it is that we want to stand for,” she shared in a statement to People Magazine. “That inside our stories, if we dare to sit in the stillness of them, our purpose can be revealed. And we all have a purpose. That’s what I hope people will take away from my book.”

Not only will the ex-convict bring awareness to Munchausen syndrome by proxy with her new memoir, but she will also retell her memories from her childhood.

“As a survivor desperate to figure out ways to inspire others to find hope, it’s necessary to face inward—to question, to be introspective,” Gypsy Rose explained. “In processing and retelling my memories, so much more truth has been revealed to me, including the victimization of the other people in my family and community. I hope to engage readers by describing my journey, instead of explaining it. In that way, others might see themselves in my story, too, and relate.”

The 32-year-old added, “Only because I did the work, did my time to stand finally come. Now, I can stand with other victims as they take steps toward doing whatever work is necessary to stand for themselves. 'My Time to Stand' is about reclaiming my footing so others can be inspired to walk a life of purpose and meaning and build a future sturdy enough so others can stand for something, too.”

An Audio Version Of Gypsy's Memoir Is Coming

On Tuesday, July 16, the 32-year-old Munchausen syndrome by proxy victim announced she would be recording an audio version of her memoir.

"I’m so excited to announce that I’ll be narrating the audiobook version of my memoir, ‘My Time to Stand,’ which comes out on December 10, 2024!" she announced. "This project is close to my heart, and I can’t wait to bring it to life with my own voice. Sharing my story can be challenging, but it’s important for me to raise awareness about what I, and so many others, have gone through."

The Meaning Behind 'My Time To Stand'

Gypsy revealed that the title of her memoir has a meaning, as it refers to the first time she stood up and walked on her own.

As The Blast reported, Dee Dee Blanchard claimed Gypsy had various medical conditions, including muscular dystrophy, subjecting her to a wheelchair -- something that she did not actually need.

“The first time I stood up on my own two feet was my first failed attempt to leave my mother. I had the legs of a chick struggling to find a way out of the cracks. Who hasn’t felt unsturdy like that in their own life?" she told People. "The second time I stood up, I walked down a path I’ll regret forever. Again, too many people feel this way about their choices."

The 32-year-old told the outlet that this book will detail her journey towards embracing her own truth, shaped by her personal work in recent years.

"The third time I stood up, I did so as an incarcerated girl-woman who had so much to learn about independence, self-forgiveness and resilience," she concludes. "Only because I did the work, did my time to stand finally come. Now, I can stand with other victims as they take steps toward doing whatever work is necessary to stand for themselves."

"'My Time to Stand' is about reclaiming my footing so others can be inspired to walk a life of purpose and meaning and build a future sturdy enough so others can stand for something, too," she concluded.
