James Kennedy Talks Music With Lala Kent, 'Vanderpump Rules' Divide

James Kennedy and Lala Kent may have new music coming soon. 

During an interview withThe Thingson March 2, the "Vanderpump Rules" cast member opened up about his past collaborations with his friend and co-star before sharing his hopes to return to the studio with her following the April arrival of her and Randall Emmett's baby girl.

"Me and Lala always have a good time making music. From 'Feeling You' to 'Playboy Bunny' we always like to have fun in the studio," he said. 

"I love her energy and I love what we come up with. It's always fun hanging out with my girl Lala. That will be great, definitely after the baby of course," Kennedy continued. 

As fans saw during the eighth season of "Vanderpump Rules," Kennedy chose a life of sobriety in late 2019 and has remained sober ever since. Looking back at the decision, Kennedy said he picked a good time to get sober. 

"It's been quite an interesting road. I definitely think I picked the right time to stop drinking because clubs closed right in the beginning of quarantine," he noted. 

While "Vanderpump Rules" has not yet gone into production on its upcoming ninth season, Kennedy has remained in touch with several of his cast mates. 

"I hang out with Scheana a lot. We've been around her a lot during her pregnancy which is a really exciting time. I hang out with Tom and Ariana. [But] I haven't seen Jax, Brittany, or that whole group," he shared. 

"We definitely have our own sections of friend groups when we're not filming. I think that becomes clearer in peoples' eyes through Instagram," he added.

"I still talk to Lala and stuff but with quarantine, COVID, and the pregnancies, of course, everyone's in their own bubble. You've got to respect that for sure during these times," Kennedy shared.

As he's remained quarantined with girlfriend Raquel Leviss, Kennedy has been focusing on making his at-home studio the perfect place for creating new music.

"We've amped it down because it was all done but then through quarantine, and jam sessions and recording sessions. It's also my gym now. We moved the sofa over here and this is my streaming area now. I love it. My studio actually just opened back up in Burbank so I have been making some trips here and there," he explained.

When asked how he's been coping with his relationship with Leviss in quarantine, Kennedy said that when it comes to their romance, the pandemic has actually strengthened their connection to one another. 

"I think that we both definitely learned how much we love each other, for real. A lot of couples have been challenged during this time. I've seen a lot of people break up and I've seen some get together. For me and Raquel, we're just as strong as we were in the beginning," he said.
