Gellar advised fans to honor her late pal's memory by helping animals in her name. "More than anything, Shan loves animals, especially dogs. In her memory, let's support our favorite animal charities," she wrote.
"Whether that's donating money, stopping by your local shelter and just offering cuddles and walks to animals housed there or even just tagging them in the comments so other people can learn about their work," Gellar continued.
She concluded her poignant piece, stressing how much these donations would mean to Doherty, writing: "I know that would make our girl happy (and illicit that deep throaty laugh we all loved)."

Doherty Passes Away At 53
As reported by The Blast, Doherty took her final breath over the weekend. Her longtime publicist, Leslie Sloane, confirmed her death in a statement, reading:
"It is with a heavy heart that I confirm the passing of actress Shannen Doherty. On Saturday, July 13, she lost her battle with cancer after many years of fighting the disease."
"The devoted daughter, sister, aunt, and friend was surrounded by her loved ones as well as her dog, Bowie. The family asks for their privacy at this time so they can grieve in peace," Sloane concluded.
Doherty's Death comes after a years-long battle with cancer, which began with a breast cancer diagnosis in 2015. The disease was in remission for a few years before returning in 2017 and progressing to her bones late last year.
Shannen Doherty Bagged A 'Charmed' Deal Before Her Death
A week before her tragic demise, The Blast shared that Doherty had secured a co-host position on a new podcast. She and her former "Charmed" co-stars joined iHeartPodcasts to launch "The House of Halliwell: A Charmed Rewatch Podcast."
The list included Holly Marie Combs, Drew Fuller, and Brian Krause. iHeartMedia announced the show on July 8, with the podcast premiere featuring Doherty before her death.
The late actress and her former castmates were set to reflect on their "Charmed" days, with the program's description promising a witchery adventure down memory lane.
