NeNe Leakes' oldest son, Bryson Bryant, can count himself lucky for avoiding a severe sentence in his fentanyl case.

The "Real Housewives of Atlanta" alum's son was arrested last July for multiple charges, including lying to a law enforcer, and faced a high possibility of jail time. Fortunately, he scored a plea deal, but it came with strict rules.

Nene Leakes' son is infamous for his addictions, a struggle that left his famous mother feeling helpless after his 2023 arrest.

According to court documents, Bryant reached a plea deal with prosecutors, allowing him to escape jail time by pleading guilty to a misdemeanor charge of Giving False Information to a Law Enforcement Officer.

Meanwhile, prosecutors dismissed his Possession of a Schedule II Controlled Substance charge. Thanks to the absence of the severe crime, the court sentenced Bryant to 12 months probation and ordered him to pay a $500 fine.

On the surface, this seems like a sweet deal for Leakes' son. However, his probation period came with strict rules that would land him in jail if broken. Within six months of his sentence, Bryant must complete 40 hours of community service.

His probation officer also had the authority to subject Bryant to random drug tests, with the order obtained by In Touch adding:

The rules attached to Bryant's sentencing continued with the court trying to keep him on the straight and narrow. Per the order, Leakes' oldest son must undergo an evaluation and/or treatment for substance abuse.

He must also abstain from alcohol and alcoholic beverages, plus no use of narcotics and other dangerous drugs. However, he can consume the substances that are lawfully prescribed.

Bryant was arrested on July 3, 2023, after officers caught him loitering outside a home in the city of Lawrenceville, Georgia, around 1 a.m. Cops claimed he told them he knew the people who lived there; however, his statement was false.

The lies didn't end there as the former Bravolebrity's son also told officers his name was Brentt Leakes — Leakes' younger son from a different relationship. This false statement came to light during questioning after he was booked into jail.

Following years of failed attempts to save Bryant from himself, Leakes explained that she finally understood that she could not force her son to change until he was ready to help himself. In her words:

"As a mom, just to watch it, my hands are tied. [There's] not much that I can do. For people who have had children or family members that have been on drugs, they know that they have to be ready. They have to simply be ready."

Three months after her emotional confession about Bryant's addictions, The Blast reported that Leakes was considering entering an open marriage. She opened up about taking the unconventional route on an episode of her "LifeofNene" YouTube series.

The media personality noted that she got emotional while filling out a medical form that asked for her emergency contact and realized how much she missed her late husband, Gregg Leakes.

This recollection got her thinking about finding a partner to support her. She said, "Maybe we will have an agreement that this person would be there for me, and I would be there for them during hard times or medical times or something like that."

To ensure this man would remain her lifelong partner, Leakes contemplated an open marriage. "He will see whoever he wants to see. I will see whoever I want to see," she declared.
