The 'Grown-ish' Star Opened Up About Postpartum Struggles

Since welcoming her son with DDG in December 2023, Halle got candid about her postpartum struggles and what it entails.
In April, The Blast reported that the actress decided to bring awareness to the issue in a heartfelt video. Halle emotionally shared:
"I have severe, severe postpartum [depression], and I don't know if any new moms can relate, but it's to the point where it's really bad, and it's hard for me to be separated from my baby for more than 30 minutes at a time before I start to kind of freak out."
The 24-year-old acknowledged that before experiencing it herself, she did not fully grasp the gravity of postpartum depression.
She further admitted, "Now going through it, it feels like you're swimming in this ocean that's like the biggest waves you've ever felt, and you're trying not to drown."
In addition to her emotional struggles, Halle confessed to dealing with body image issues since giving birth. In her words:
"The only thing that's been hard for me is feeling normal in my own body. I feel like a completely different person when I look in the mirror. I just feel like I'm in a whole new body, and I don't know who I am."
The Doting Mother Affirmed Halo Is Not the Cause Of Postpartum Struggles

In the same video, Halle ensured that she clarified that her struggles had nothing to do with her baby. The star emphatically stated, "It has nothing to do with my baby. It has everything to do with me and who I am right now."
She explained further that on that particular day, she felt triggered, especially since social media can intensify feelings of distress during postpartum.
Despite her personal battles, Halle took a moment to commend her partner, Halo's father, DDG. She described him as the "most amazing daddy in the world" and emphasized how perfect he was in his role as a father.
The "Ungodly" singer continued of DDG, "He loves him so much; he's so present. And I couldn't have asked for a better person to have a baby with because of how present he is, and how much he wants to be in his life, and how supportive he is of me and my ventures."
Halle Bailey Fired Back At Critic Over Pregnancy AnnouncementÂ

Halle and DDG surprised their fans earlier this year by waiting until January to share the news of their baby's birth. However, not everyone greeted the announcement with positivity, sparking a wave of criticism from some followers.
The Blast noted that the controversy ignited when a social media user responded critically to a now-deleted clip of Halle wearing blue jeans with what appeared to be a black maternity band.
The clip was captioned with a playful reference to altering photos. "Imaooo do y'all remember seeing this pics on my insta? we photoshopped out my belly," the caption read. The critic's comment highlighted perceived inconsistencies, stating:
"I don't think people are mad she hid her pregnancy. People are more so annoyed that she went out of her way to lie and gaslight about it. Then, she shaded people and called them desperate. Now, she wants those same 'desperate' people to know every little detail."
In response to the criticism, Halle defended herself, clarifying that she "never lied or even said anything about it."
She addressed the issue directly, pointing out that she had only made light-hearted remarks, such as joking about her nose, and expressed her surprise at the backlash over her decision to maintain privacy.
In conclusion, Halle wrote, "Wouldn't you do the same? and I'm gonna share my pics now if I want to because my son is here safely. If you don't wanna see it, just keep scrolling baby lol God bless you."
