Prince Harry has been rumored to want to reunite with the royal family after he and Meghan Markleresigned from their duties to live abroad.

In the years following their relocation, the couple made various accusations against members of the royal family, which further soured their relationship with the monarchy.

Royal expert Grant Harrold has now revealed the one thing Harry could do to regain entry into the royal family. However, he noted that it remains unlikely that Harry and Meghan will ever have the kind of relationship they once shared with Prince William and Kate Middleton again.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex have been embroiled in a very public rift with the royal family in the years following their relocation to the United States after quitting their royal duties in 2020 to pursue a more private life.

The feud greatly affected the royal family at the time, as Harry and Meghan hurled several bombshell allegations against the monarchy in a sit-down interview with Oprah Winfrey and in his memoir "Spare."

According to the New York Post, royal expert Grant Harrold has revealed one major condition the Duke must fulfill to rejoin the royal family.

"The only way I see this happening is a public statement from Harry, where you come out and say that you were in a bad space and that [Spare] was a mistake," Harrold said.

Harrold, however, shared that he doesn't think a reunion between Harry and his family would happen, explaining that the damage in their relationship runs deep because of some "bad things" that were said.

"I don't think that's going to happen. Some bad things were said, and some families never patch things up, and that's how it is forevermore," Harrold told the news outlet, adding that Harry "will regret" the things he wrote in his book.

He continued, "Harry has got a big heart, and a part of him probably wishes things would be different."

The former royal butler to King Charles noted that Harry and Meghan would find it a Herculean task to reignite the kind of relationship they had with William and Kate should they be welcomed back as royals.

"[Harry] caused damage and broke down trust," Harrold said. "It's difficult when you're a future monarch."

"I doubt they'll ever get back the relationship they had originally. That was a very different relationship built on trust," the former butler explained, adding that "too much damage" had already been done.

"It's going to take time. William is a tough character. He's a good guy," Harrold noted.

Harry's potential reunion with the royal family faces challenges due to his elder brother reportedly being angry with him over the things he has said about the royal family.

William is also said to have severed ties with Harry, choosing rather to focus on his royal duties and family.

Royal expert Ingrid Seward told The Mirror that William, who recently celebrated his 42nd birthday, is "more upset than he admits" and that the last couple of years had been "one of the most difficult" for him.

"William is sensitive, he likes structure and has perseverance. He does not give up easily. His relationship with brother Harry upset him more than he would care to admit. But he found it easier to cut ties rather than allow himself to be continually annoyed. His life with Kate gives him the security, love, and friendship he needs," Seward shared.

Despite speculations that Harry is looking to return to the UK and secure a home for himself and his family, the safety of his life and those of his family seemingly pose a threat to them making the trip across the pond.

According to The Mirror, Harry fears bringing Meghan and his children, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet, to the UK amid his legal woes as he continues to fight Homeland Security for his taxpayer-funded security to be reinstated when he visits the UK.

"Harry's case is he does not feel safe. He doesn't feel his family is safe when they're in the UK because they do not have police protection officers with the Metropolitan Police with him," GB News' Royal Correspondent Cameron Walker said.

"So perhaps that is the main reason why Prince Harry isn't bringing Meghan and Archie and Lilibet over to the UK because he can't guarantee, he would say he can't guarantee their safety," he added.
