Jade Carey is returning to the Olympics! The Oregon State gymnast secured a spot on Sunday after she wowed the crowd with a phenomenal performance.
Not only did she impress on the balance beam, achieving a score of 13.625, but she also had a strong performance on the vault, scoring 14.675.
Her total all-around score was 111.350, securing her a fourth-place finish, but what fans can't stop talking about is Jade Carey's floor routine. It was so impressive it has now gone viral.
Jade Carey Impresses At The 2024 Olympic Trials
Prior to the 2024 Olympic Trials, Jade Carey expressed how much endurance and strength play a role in her routines.
“I think a big thing for me was… well, [there were] a few things: numbers and just endurance and strength,” Carey told Olympics.com. “I feel like not working as many elite routines during the season, I didn’t feel strong enough or confident enough in my elite routines… because I didn’t have that strength and endurance like I did before."
“It was really just that and me not feeling confident because I was feeling that way,” she added. “It was definitely a big struggle, but at the end of the day, we learned a lot. It’s what really pushed me to just be even better and more on top of it this year.”
That hard work and dedication certainly paid off, as she scored 14.150 in an impressive floor routine.
Switching Things Up For The 2024 Olympics
The Tokyo Olympic floor champion is shaking things up for this year's Olympics with a rock-inspired routine set to The White Stripes' hit "Seven Nation Army."
During the performance, Carey lands a double-double tumbling pass that is "jam-packed with difficulty," according to the announcer at the Trials.
The 24-year-old ends her performance with a signature "Rock On" gesture.
Fans React To Jade Carey's Floor Routine
After seeing the floor routine, social media users gushed over Jade Carey and her "breathtaking" skills.
One fan compared her to Simone Biles's level. "2nd to Simone Biles is basically as good as first because Simone is just in a league of her own," they wrote.
"Oh, our Olympic team is gonna dominate," another said.
"The way she sticks her landings is just breathtaking. So solid. Even the step out of bounds looked precisely calculated, like she knew she could do it for the value she had," a third commented.
A fourth sports fan wrote, "I love watching Jade Carey because she just looks like she genuinely loves what she’s doing."

2024 Women's Gymnastics Team USA
This year's team includes Simone Biles, Suni Lee, Jordan Chiles, Jade Carey, and newcomer Hezly Rivera, which was chosen on Sunday at the U.S. Olympic Gymnastics Trials in Minneapolis, following two days of intense competition.
Alicia Sacramone Quinn, the strategic lead at USA Gymnastics, said, "It was a hard decision” to narrow the team down to five gymnasts. "All the athletes did their jobs; they did what they needed to do," per NBC.
She noted some mistakes during Sunday’s trials, but she said, "Better here than in Paris."
Quinn also mentioned that the selection committee "had their eye" on 16-year-old Rivera, viewing her as a potential representative for the U.S. at the 2028 Los Angeles Games.
At 27, Biles will be the oldest female gymnast representing the U.S. at the Olympic Games since the 1950s. “I knew I wasn’t done after the performances in Tokyo," Biles said as she thanked her co-coaches Cecile and Laurent Landi. "Getting back in the gym and trusting the process with Cecile and Lauren. I knew I’d be back.”
The 2024 Paris Olympics kick off on July 26.
