For the past years, Prince Harry changed a lot about his entire life. Before the significant change, the Duke of Sussex struggled in his royal roles and he was regularly subjected to public scrutiny.

As the Prince married his lover, Meghan Markle, the media buzz got worse for the young couple in many ways.

As a result of the culminating events, Prince Harry decided to step down from royal life to a new path in California. He has also kept his circle of friends smaller, but he remains incredibly close to his mentor, Mark Dyer.

Dyer is a previous  Welsh Guards officer who served Prince Charles as a royal equerry In the 1990s.

As a result of Dyer's closeness to the family, he was close to Prince Harry and Prince William, particularly after their mother, Prince Diana, in 1997.

According to New Idea,a source close to the family claimed that Dyer, instead of Charles, raised Prince Harry following Princess Diana's death. It is, therefore, no secret that the Duke of Sussex is very close to Dyer.

Per The Sun, a royal expert said Prince Harry had described his mentor, Dyer, as one of the people who talks some sense into him."

At a time in history, Prince Harry's parentage was questioned, especially considering Prince Charles and Princess Diana's had a tense marriage, coupled with the Duke of Sussex's red hair.

There were rumors that Dyer was Prince Harry's birth father, which was later debunked.

For years, there were also speculations that the Prince's birth father was cavalry officer James Hewitt, with whom his mother Princess Diana had an affair.

However, the princess' former butler Paul Burrell debunked the claim on "I'm A Celebrity…Get Me Out Of Here," when he disclosed that Hewitt and Princess Diana were not acquainted at the time of Prince Harry's birth. Despite the unfounded rumors, Prince Harry and Dyer remained very close.

In 2010, The Prince attended Dyer's wedding and became a godfather to his son, Jasper, a pageboy in the Sussexes' marriage in 2018.

At the beginning of Prince Harry and Markle's relationship in 2016, Dyer and Princess Eugenie were the two people that Prince Harry introduced to his girlfriend first.

A source shared with "New Idea" that "Harry introduced Meghan to Dyer before anyone, and she instantly shared Harry's love for him.

Dyer was also instrumental in their love story as he owned the upscale bar where the pair had secret dates.
