Actors are good at what they do; pretending to be someone else. After all, they get paid lots of money to create imaginary characters in fantastical situations and breathe life into them in a believable way.

This can sometimes mean acting to convince the audience that there is chemistry between two actors when in fact, they do not see eye to eye.

While there are plenty of on-screen lovers who couldn't stand each other in real life, there are also plenty of real-life love stories that grew from on-screen fictional romance. 

Actors Angelina Jolie and Johnny Depp had each been in high-profile love relationships that began on set, so when the pair starred together in "The Tourist," rumors started flying about their chemistry.

The tricky part of the story is that while some reported that the team hit it off, others suggested they hated each other on sight.

Jolie and Depp are both proficient actors who have acted in several roles in movies, and therefore are no strangers to playing lovers alongside other famous actors. 

Both actors had relationships, which started on set, proceeded to marriage and ended in a public fiasco.

In 2011, Depp met Amber Heard on the "Rum Diary" project. The pair took their romance to real life, got married later, divorced amid messy domestic violence accusations and an alleged hefty settlement.

Julie met and fell in love with actor Brad Pitt when they co-starred in the movie "Mr. and Mrs. Smith." The pair had a tumultuous romance as Pitt divorced his partner Jennifer Aniston to be with Jolie in a relationship that eventually led to marriage. The marriage, however, also hit the rocks on allegations of abuse and misconduct.

All that is to say that both actors were well acquainted with Hollywood romances and how things can change quickly by the time they started working together.

In "The Tourist," Depp played an American tourist, Frank, who escaped to Italy to mend his broken heart. Jolie played Elise, a stranger who chose Frank in her plot to evade the police and the mob. The movie is an action-packed one about adventure and love.

According to Celeb Bitchy, the two A-listers had little tolerance for each other, and a source claims Jolie was tired of Depp.

The source alleged that although the actors were supposed to have strong chemistry on-screen, they do not get along. In a mutual feeling, Depp also avoided Jolie until it was time to act as he thinks she is "full of herself."

However, the actors debunked the rumor as they gushed about one another in public, sparking a tale that they have an intimate relationship. Dating or not, the pair have kept it very professional when talking about each other.

As reported by "Vanity Fair," Depp had praised Jolie for his time with her on-screen and Jolie returned the favor by praising his professionalism.
