Biden delivered an impassioned speech at a rally in North Carolina, in which he seemingly admitted that his performance at the CNN debate earlier in the week was underwhelming.

"Folks, I don't walk as easy as I used to, I don't speak as smoothly as I used to, I don't debate as well as I used to," the 81-year-old told the crowd.

As part of his remarks, he took a shot at his opponent, Trump, who has been accused of lying to the voters on a number of things in recent months.

Biden added, "But I know what I do know: I know how to tell the truth. "I know right from wrong,"

As if aware that his stock might have fallen after the debate, Biden tried explaining to his supporters why he was still the right man for the job.

He said, "I know how to do this job. I know how to get things done. I know what millions of Americans know: When you get knocked down, you get back up."

He reassured them that he wouldn't be contesting if he wasn't capable of delivering.

"Folks, I give you my word as a Biden, I would not be running again if I didn't believe with all my heart and soul I can do this job because, quite frankly, the stakes are too high," Biden said — indicating he has no intention to step aside.

After his earlier subtle jab at Trump, Biden chose to call out his opponent fully, describing him as a "genuine threat to this nation."

"He's a threat to our freedom. He's a threat to our democracy. Is literally a threat to everything America stands for," he added.

The incumbent then urged voters to choose him, promising to uphold the virtues of democracy, which he believes Trump seeks to destroy if he gets reelected in November.

Biden continued, "The choice in this election is simple: Donald Trump will destroy democracy; I will defend it."

Biden's remarks come in the wake of mounting pressure from fellow democrats to withdraw from the presidential race.

A senior Democratic strategist told the New York Times that "Biden is about to face a crescendo of calls to step aside. Parties exist to win—this man on the stage with Trump cannot win."

One donor told Politico that the president's effort was "so bad that no one will pay attention to Trump's lies" and that Biden "needs to drop out. No question about it."

Another adviser disclosed that they'd "taken no less than half a dozen key donors texting 'disaster' and [the] party needs to do something," but admitted that "not much is possible unless" Biden steps aside.

Hours after the debate between Biden and Trump, viewers were left shocked as they watched the president's wife, Jill, appear to address her husband as if he were a "toddler" during their appearance at a "Let's Go Joe" debate watch party in Atlanta.

Facing Biden directly amid the large cheers from their supporters, Jill remarked, "You did such a great job answering every question. You knew all the facts."

On social media, concerned viewers slammed the exchange, seemingly due to recent speculations about Biden's mental acuity.

One X user said, "Why is everyone okay with our president being talked to like a 3 year old that just went potty all by himself? This is criminal."

A second person took a direct shot at Jill, saying, "Wow ..... It's like Jill Biden was praising a toddler to get cheers for reinforcement so they feel better. This man should not have a title of president."
