Matthew Perry, 54, passed away last year attributed to "acute effects of ketamine," per the official autopsy report. The actor, who is best known for his role as Chandler Bing on the hit television sitcom, "Friends," was found unresponsive in his hot tub on October 28, 2023.
Following his tragic death, many of his former co-stars, including Jennifer Aniston, David Schwimmer, and Matt LeBlanc, paid tribute to their friend.
Months after losing her former "Friends" costar, Lisa Kudrow revealed the touching way she remembers Matthew Perry.
Matthew Perry Gets His Big Break
Perry's big break came in 1994 when he was cast as Chandler Bing on "Friends." For those who have seen the show, his portrayal of the sarcastic and lovable character made him a household name and earned him critical acclaim and a devoted fan base.
The show became so popular that Perry, along with his co-stars, became one of the highest-paid television actors in the world.
Matthew Perry Passes Away
The autopsy report indicated that the cause of death was due to "acute effects of Ketamine."
Although Matthew Perry was undergoing Ketamine therapy at the time of his death, his last professionally supervised treatment was over a week before his passing. Given that Ketamine has a half-life of only a few hours, the presence of the drug in his system could not have been from his therapy sessions.
Now, there is a possibility that "multiple people" could face charges in connection to the actor's death, including Charlie Sheen's ex-wife, Brooke Mueller.
As fans and friends of the late actor await news about the investigation, Lisa Kudrow has revealed how she is remembering her co-star—by rewatching old episodes of the hit television sitcom!
How Lisa Kudrow Is Remembering Her Late 'Friends' Co-Star
Kudrow, who portrayed the quirky Phoebe Buffay for ten seasons, spoke to The Hollywood Reporter about her late costar and how tough it is to move on without Perry in her life anymore.
"Honestly, I wasn’t able to watch it because it's too embarrassing to watch yourself. But if I make it about Matthew, then that's OK," the actress told the outlet. "And it's just celebrating how hilarious he was — and that is what I want to remember [about him]."
"Everyone is hilarious. I’m blown away by Courteney Cox. I’m blown away by Jen. Matthew, obviously, is just uniquely hilarious. No one ever knew that cadence or comedic rhythm before him. Matt LeBlanc is hilarious. And David Schwimmer, too," Kudrow added. "Sometimes I even laugh at what I’ve done."
"So yeah, I mean, that’s my own little way of celebrating [the anniversaries], just watching it," she continued. "But it’s embarrassing. At home, if anyone walks in the room and I'm watching 'Friends,' that's a horrible look, I think, don't you?"
'The One Where Everybody Finds Out'
One of the most iconic moments between Kudrow and Perry's characters on the show is when Pheobe tries to seduce Chandler as a way to get him to admit that he is dating Courteney Cox's character, Monica Gellar.
"It’s like, 'We've got to come up with something to up the stakes.' And I think it was him that went, 'What if he just [imitates unbuttoning a shirt with one hand] … and the shirt flies open?'" she recalled of the episode. "And they’re like, 'Are you okay wearing a bra?' And I went, 'A bra? There’s more covering than a bathing suit! It’s fine.'"

The cast of the hit television show grew extremely close over the 10 years they filmed, and remained friends after the sitcom concluded. When remembering what it was like to be on set with Aniston, Cox, Schwimmer, LeBlanc, and Perry, Kudrow said it was like nothing she's ever experienced before.
"You're just laughing all day long, basically, in between the scenes, because these are funny people," she told the outlet. "And especially someone like Matthew whose goal was: How many laughs can I get in real life every day? So we were always laughing so hard, tears were flying out of our faces," she recalls with a smile.
In November, days after she learned of Perry's passing, Kudrow paid tribute by sharing an emotional post on Instagram. "Thank you for making me laugh so hard at something you said, that my muscles ached, and tears poured down my face EVERY DAY," she wrote at the time. "Thank you for the best 10 years a person gets to have.
Thank you for trusting me. Thank you for all I learned about GRACE and LOVE through knowing you."
"Thank you for the time I got to have with you, Matthew," she concluded.
