The investigation into the death of actor Matthew Perry has taken an interesting turn as authorities believe a few people have some queries to answer.
According to a law enforcement source, the investigation is "nearing its conclusion," leading to the possibility of "multiple people" facing charges in connection to Perry's tragic passing, which was linked to ketamine use.
At some point before his death, Matthew Perry claimed he was sober, but a rehab colleague alleged those claims were far from the truth as he couldn't stand "tough love" from rehab and had "a lot of enablers" around him.
'Multiple People' May Be Charged In Connection To Matthew Perry's Death
Perry, known for his fan-favorite role as Chandler Bing on the hit TV show "Friends," was found face down in the Jacuzzi at his Pacific Palisades, California home on October 28.
An autopsy report subsequently revealed the nature of his death was accidental as he died from a ketamine overdose with other contributory factors, including drowning, coronary artery disease, and the effects of buprenorphine.
According to People magazine, a law enforcement source shared that authorities believe "multiple people" should be charged about the actor's passing as the investigation is "nearing its conclusion."
Although no names were stated concerning the "people" potentially facing charges, the insider added that the U.S. Attorney's office would decide whether or not to press charges.
Charlie Sheen's Ex-wife Has Reportedly Been Questioned
One name that has seemingly managed to stick out is that of Charlie Sheen's ex-wife, Brooke Mueller, who has reportedly been questioned more than once about her knowledge of Perry's sobriety journey.
The pair reportedly formed an "unexpected friendship" during their time at a rehab facility together and bonded over their Hollywood connection.
A source told In Touch that she's been "completely cooperative" with the investigations, which is a joint partnership between the LAPD, the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration, and the U.S. Postal Inspection Service.
Brooke Mueller Has Allegedly 'Hired Lawyers'
Mueller has reportedly "hired lawyers" after having "multiple meetings with law enforcement" and has remained "tight-lipped about the situation."
The insider disclosed to the news outlet that authorities seized her iPhone and laptop, but no charges have been filed, and she has not been implicated.
"It's tough to say or know exactly what her role is [in Matthew's death], but she's adamant she had nothing to do with that," the source noted.
Matthew Perry Was Undergoing Ketamine Infusion Treatment
Perry's Ketamine overdose happened to be a question that puzzled many at the time of his death, as it was understood that he'd been undergoing Ketamine Infusion therapy for anxiety and depression.
Even adding salt to injury was the report by his autopsy that stated that "the ketamine in his system at death could not be from that infusion therapy," leaving many to wonder if he'd relapsed into using drugs. TMZ then reported that investigators were looking to decipher where the ketamine that "ended up playing a part" in his death came from.
"Law enforcement sources tell us there is an ongoing investigation into where Matthew got the ketamine that ended up playing a part in his death — and the main questions are who provided the drug, and under the circumstances," the outlet reported.
According to the news outlet, investigators have spoken to people who have a history of drug use or abuse in a bid to extract information on the source of the ketamine.
Matthew Perry Battled Drug Addiction
In his 2022 memoir "Friends, Lovers, and the Big Terrible Thing," Perry opened up about his struggles with drug addiction.
However, the actor noted that he was able to get sober 18 months before he was found dead with the help of a sober coach and a close friend of his. At the time, Perry said he didn't enjoy it because it felt like a "giant exhale" that made him feel like he was "dying."
Perry also claimed to have invested a Whooping $9 million in his sobriety efforts; however, a rehab colleague of his told the Daily Mail that he never did get clean.
"He lied to everyone about being clean. He never was. It is very sad. You know, the biggest lie he told was probably to himself," Perry's friend, who opted to remain anonymous, disclosed.
"He could be quite a manipulative person when it came to his struggles with using, but it was such a struggle, such a battle, and he battled every day to the end," the source added.
