Donald Trump Reveals He Has Chosen A Running Mate
Amid continuing preparations for the next presidential election, Trump has revealed that he already has a candidate in mind as his running mate.
According to Fox News, the former president shared the information when speaking with reporters who met up with him outside of a retail stop in Philadelphia last week.
"In my mind, yeah," Trump said, responding to the reporters' inquiry.
However, he refrained from revealing the person's name, adding that "nobody knows" who the individual is, nor is the individual aware of his choice.
When Will Donald Trump Announce The Name Of His VP Candidate?
After his cryptic response, Trump assured reporters they would have their hands full, sifting through attendees at the upcoming debate between him and President Joe Biden to find the most likely vice presidential nominee.
"They'll be there," said the former president, confirming that his potential nominee will attend the Atlanta debate. "I think we have a lot of people coming."
Still, the name of the individual is just a few weeks from being known if Trump's word is to be trusted.
"I'll be announcing it right around the time of the convention," Trump told a reporter for Fox News, referencing the Republican National Convention, which begins in Milwaukee on July 15.
Donald Trump Opens Up About Strategy For The Debate
For the upcoming debate, Trump shared that his strategy for getting ready was to continue with his campaign trail.
"Well, this is really the best strategy right here. We have all these people out here, and they are screaming questions. I look forward to the debate," the billionaire mogul shared, per Fox News.
He also revealed that he was not worried about Biden's preparation and added a sly dig about the president's mental acuity.
"Well, I think if he prepares, he'll be fine. Then, he will forget it within about an hour after preparing. So, we'll see what happens. We'll see what happens," Trump said.
All About The Upcoming Presidential Debate
The upcoming debate marks the earliest televised US general election debate in over fifty years. It will also be the first face-off between Trump and Biden on a debate stage since the 2020 presidential campaign.
CNN will host the event, with veteran anchors Jake Tapper and Dana Bash serving as moderators.
Both candidates will stand for the debate unless during breaks. Meanwhile, campaign staff cannot interact with either candidate throughout the entire event's duration.
There is also an added twist of not allowing Trump or Biden to interrupt themselves, as their microphones will be muted except when it is each candidate's turn to speak.
Donald Trump Wants Joe Biden To Undergo A Drug Test Before Debate
Ahead of the historic presidential debates on June 27 with CNN and September 10 with ABC, Trump has insisted that the incumbent president, Biden, take a drug test to be sure he is following the rules.
The presumptive Republican party nominee referenced Biden's State of the Union address, alleging that Biden had used performance-enhancing drugs as he was "high as a kite" when he delivered the speech.
"I just want to debate this guy, but you know – and I'm gonna demand a drug test too, by the way," Trump said during a speech at a GOP dinner in St. Paul, Minnesota, per the New York Post.
He continued, "I am. No, I really am. I don't want him coming in like the State of the Union. He was high as a kite. We're going to demand a drug test."
Elsewhere, the billionaire politician shared his thoughts on the networks hosting the debates, noting, "They're going to be fair, I think they're going to be fair enough."
