Marjorie Taylor Greene has triggered online controversy by once again comparing former President Donald Trump to Jesus Christ at a recent MAGA rally.

Her statements generated a lot of criticism online, especially from X, with many comparing the MAGA group to a cult. Nevada Republican Party Chair Michael McDonald also made statements comparing Trump to a god-like figure.

Marjorie Taylor Greene previously compared Donald Trump to Jesus, and the billionaire mogul has also said he's similar to Christ and the late Nelson Mandela.

Marjorie Taylor Greene Compared Donald Trump To Jesus Christ

Trump recently held a MAGA rally in Las Vegas, where some of his popular speakers triggered controversy with their statements.

Most prominent among them was Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene, who shockingly compared Trump to a prominent religious figure, Jesus Christ.

She said, "The Democrats and the fake news media want to constantly talk about, 'Oh, President Trump is a convicted felon,'" which referenced Trump's recent conviction on 34 felony charges of fraud and falsification of business records.

Greene continued, "Well, you wanna know something? The man that I worship is also a convicted felon. And he was murdered on [the] Roman cross."

Marjorie Taylor Greene Was Heavily Criticized On Social Media

After Greene's statements went viral on social media, many users on X, formerly Twitter, criticized her heavily for the comparison with Jesus.

One tweet read, "Marjorie Taylor Greene just compared Donald Trump to Jesus Christ. If you needed any more evidence that MAGA is a cult, here it is. Insanity."

A second person noted, "Jesus didn't cheat on his wife with a Playboy Playmate and Porn Star."

Another user made a sarcastic remark, which read, "Yes, Christ was charged with a felony for falsification of his business records in order to hide his raw-dogging a porn star from the American people."

"Of all the reasons to compare someone to Jesus, going the 'convicted felon' route is truly wild," a fourth wrote.

"Marjorie Taylor Greene comparing Trump to Jesus should have gotten her booed and thrown out. Instead, the cult just cheered," another bewildered person said. "But she couldn't be more wrong unless you think Jesus committed sexual assault, fraud, and dozens of other crimes."

This isn't the first time Greene has compared Trump to Jesus, as she previously made similar shocking statements.

At the time, the businessman had just been arrested for the Stormy Daniels trial, and she compared him to Christ and the late South African President Nelson Mandela.

During an interview with Right Side Broadcasting in New York, Greene said, "Trump is joining some of the most incredible people in history being arrested today. Nelson Mandela was arrested, served time in prison. Jesus - Jesus was arrested and murdered by the Roman government."

Trump himself has previously made comparisons of himself to Jesus on social media. He recently shared a post from a fan on his Truth Social platform, which likened the former president's legal troubles to the persecution of Christ.

The fan message read, "It's ironic that Christ walked through His greatest persecution the very week they are trying to steal your property from you."

This is a reference to Trump's $468 million fine, which was imposed after he was found guilty of years of financial fraud in his various businesses.

The fan's message further mentions Psalm 109, a verse that has become popular among far-right Christians.

The stanza for that verse ends with "Let his days be few; and let another take his office." The person then concluded their message, "Thank you again for taking the arrows intended for us. We love you."

Trump responded to the message by calling it "beautiful."

The billionaire mogul was found guilty of 34 felony counts of falsifying business records to hide payments made to former adult film star Stormy Daniels.

The jury's verdict means that Trump becomes the first U.S. former president to be convicted of felony crimes, but it's not expected that he'll pull out of the race to be president again.

He has referred to the trial as a "witch hunt" that's politically motivated and has now alluded to the possibility of getting back at his opponents.

In a conversation with conservative U.S. outlet Newsmax, the 77-year-old politician claimed that "it's very possible" his political opponents would face prosecution if he wins reelection into the Oval Office.

"It's a terrible precedent for our country. Does that mean the next president does it to them? That's really the question," he said, per CNN.

Trump went on, "So, you know, it's a terrible, terrible path that they're leading us to, and it's very possible that it's going to have to happen to them."
