“Southern Charm” star Kathryn Dennis' mother went to court to back up her daughter in the battle with Thomas Ravenel.
According to court documents obtained by The Blast, Dennis’ mother, Allison Dennis, filed a declaration in support of her daughter. She is backing Kathryn’s attempt to get custody of the two kids, Kensie and Saint, she shares with Ravenel.
Allison praises Kathryn’s parenting skills saying she “has a very loving relationship with her children.”
She says, “I realize that Thomas is going to try and imply that I do everything for the children of Kathryn, but that is not true.”
Kathryn’s mom rips Ravenel, “Thomas has shown a propensity to be unable to take care” of the kids by himself. She accuses him of usually having help to care for his kids.

She calls into question Ravenel hiring a private investigator to follow her daughter. Allison says, “It is rather creepy to know that he has performed so much surveillance of Kathryn and myself.” She found it “unforgivable that Thomas went on Southern Charm and sated that he didn’t know if Saint was his child or not, but then went on to self-servingly claim that he would take care of Saint.” Allison says he had already received the paternity tests results when that was filmed and knew it was his.
Allison recalls, “There are many other thing that I’d like to forget” about Ravenel. She details, “I unfortunately still remember numerous other incidents during the 2014-2015 that were extremely disturbing regarding Thomas’ conduct. There was an incident where I was downstairs with Kensie in the living room and heard noise coming from the bedroom (head-board banging against the wall) and obviously knew what was going on.”
She says, “Thomas came out afterwards and left. I went to tell Kathryn something and she was dead asleep. When I was finally about to wake her up, she remembered nothing. My perception was that she had been drugged by Thomas. I also remember when Kathryn told me that Thomas had masturbated on her back while she slept solely because he was mad at her for turning down his request the night before when she was tired.”
Allison believes Kathryn deserves custody of her kids despite Ravenel’s attempt to take it away.
Dennis also attached a report from the court appointed Guardian ad Litem, who is a third party who observes both parents, to her filing.
The Guardian ad Litem had harsh things to say to both Dennis and Ravenel. She called out Dennis for not being on time or organized but noted she had a close relationship with her kids. The report did not believe Dennis needed supervised visitation but rather could handle custody.
Dennis did admit to the Guardian that she had difficulties with money. She told her she was selling off all her clothes and furniture in order to obtain more money, “as she is running out of that (sic) money she earned from Southern Charm. She moved from the downtown home to a home left to her by her Grandfather.”
The report did have concerns for Ravenel’s drinking and said there were many witnesses who “all attest to Father’s bizarre behavior after he consumes alcohol.” They suggested he be restrained from drinking around the kids.
The Guardian ad Litem even noted how much she hates reality TV and “refused to watch Southern Charm (mainly because I find the entire show so offensive in its’ representation of my hometown)” but she did watch this season.
Back in November 2018, Ravenel filed a lawsuit against Bravo and “Southern Charm” producers demanding a judge stop them from broadcasting unaired footage on the show.
Ravenel filed the docs as part of his custody battle with Dennis. She filed for primary custody of the children back in October. Dennis had her custody taken away in 2016 after failing a drug test but was awarded joint custody this year after completing rehab and staying clean.
In his suit against Bravo, Ravenel says the network and “Southern Charm” producers “encouraged” his ex to file for custody against him to create drama on the show.
He demanded Dennis not be awarded primary custody despite her request. Ravenel, who is about to be on trial for an alleged sexual assault in South Carolina, claimed he learned that Bravo and producers have unaired footage of his kids and ex talking about the legal battle and it was to be aired on the upcoming season. The reality star sued demanding a South Carolina judge prohibit the sensitive footage from airing on the show.
Ravenel would later file docs accusing Dennis of buying drugs from friends and show producers and even accused her of committing a hit-and-run.
She has accused Ravenel of dropping their kid into a pool while intoxicated, throwing a Christmas tree across a room and allegedly masturbating on her back while she slept (after she rejected his advance while pregnant).
The case has even dragged co-star Patricia Altschul into the case, with Ravenel set to depose her about his ex.
He recently accused Dennis of failing a recent drug test when it came back positive for marijuana. He is requesting the court to only allow Dennis to have supervised visitation with their two kids Kensie and Saint. Dennis has disputed the test and pointed out her hair test came back clean.
Dennis believes using CBD oil caused a positive test result.
A judge has yet to rule. He demanded sole custody of the two kids due to the test results.
