Kate Middleton may not return to her current royal role once she completes her cancer treatment.
According to reports, the Princess of Wales is currently "re-evaluating" what she will be able to take on, particularly with regards to her royal duties.
Since beginning treatment for her undisclosed cancer diagnosis, Kate Middleton has remained out of the public eye.
The Princess Of Wales Is 'Re-evaluating What She's Going To Be Able To Take On' After Her Cancer Treatment
As Kate continues her medical treatment for her cancer diagnosis, questions have lingered over what her role may entail once she is done undergoing "preventative chemotherapy."
The Princess of Wales was diagnosed with an undisclosed type of cancer earlier in the year and immediately began treatment to prevent any further spread.
While that has required her to stay away from royal engagements to focus on her health, it is now being speculated that her role may undergo significant changes when she eventually returns.
According to an Us Weekly source, Kate's team is "re-evaluating what she's going to be able to take on when she comes back," adding that "she may never come back in the role that people saw her in before."
The Palace has yet to make any official comments, but it is believed that the changes in question might require her to participate in fewer activities than would have been required of her as a working royal.
Kate Middleton's Husband, Prince William, Shared A Positive Update About Her Health
While much was unknown about Kate's health in the days before she began treatment, her husband, Prince William, shared a positive update last month.
During an official trip to a hospital on the Isles of Scilly, the hospital administrator asked the heir apparent how the Princess of Wales was doing.
He replied, "She's doing well, thank you," although he did not share further details.
In her cancer announcement video, Kate made sure to highlight William's support after her shock diagnosis.
The Princess Was Spotted Out With Her Family In May
William's comments about Kate's wellbeing were further confirmed after the mother of three was spotted that same month with her family, enjoying time outdoors together.
Additionally, she was seen running errands alone, further signaling an improvement in her physical strength.
According to sources, the princess's treatment has significantly improved her health to the extent that she can fully resume her duties as a mother.
"Kate's feeling strong enough to be very involved with the kids," an insider told Us Weekly. "She's been an active parent."
Why Kate Middleton Is Unable To See Many People
For now, it is understood that only a few people have access to Kate to prevent her from getting any infection in her vulnerable state.
A source shared, "Kate's recovery is going well. She's not able to see many people because she is susceptible to getting sick, and they don't want her compromised, but she's up and about."
Still, the princess made room for a briefing about her campaign on early childhood, which "encourages businesses to create the right conditions to help parents and their children."
"Early childhood is a huge priority for the Princess, and so she has been kept fully updated throughout the development of the Taskforce's work, and she has seen the report," a spokesperson for The Royal Foundation Business Taskforce for Early Childhood told People magazine.
The task force was created by the princess last March to carry out the initiative.
Kate Middleton Will Not Return To Royal Duties For The Rest Of The Year
In the meantime, it is yet to be determined when Kate will return to making public appearances and her duties as a working royal.
However, an insider has claimed that there are no plans for her to return for the rest of the year.
"Lots of people involved in planning need to know what all the principals are doing a long way in advance," a royal source told the Daily Beast.
"I am told that Kate's diary for this year is empty. There is nothing planned. She may not appear in public for the rest of the year."
A separate source also shared that Kate might consider releasing another digital video similar to the one she used to announce her diagnosis. This, they claimed, would allow her to "update the country on her health" and "keep the conspiracy theorists at bay."
