Sean "Diddy" Combs reportedly believes that the controversial video of him attacking ex-girlfriend Cassandra "Cassie" Ventura "doesn't tell the full story." The viral video showed the producer chasing Cassie down in a hotel hallway and beating her up, even dragging her on the floor and throwing a glass vase at her.

Since the video surfaced, Diddy has posted a public apology, saying he's "disgusted" at himself, and Cassie has also thanked her supporters for their "love and support." The former rapper is currently under a federal investigation for sex trafficking, which led to his homes being raided.

According to sources close to the rapper, Diddy is insisting that the viral video of him assaulting ex-girlfriend Cassie Ventura "doesn't tell the full story about what happened."

An insider spoke to the New York Post about the brutal video, which has caused the rapper to get slammed online by fans and fellow Hollywood celebrities.

The insider said, "He's incensed. Especially about the video. He insists it doesn't tell the full story about what happened. Not that he's excusing it, but he says that it's a selected video."

They added, "It's his position that there was an agenda in releasing the video when it was released. But ultimately, he knows that his big concern is the raids on his house; the Cassie video is just a distraction."

The Clip Shows The Rapper Assaulting Cassie Relentlessly

The video, released by CNN, has triggered massive criticism on social media as it showed Diddy attacking Cassie in March 2016. It featured the rapper in only a towel, chasing his ex-girlfriend down the hallway of the now-closed-down InterContinental hotel in Los Angeles.

Cassie could be seen trying to sneak out of the hotel room as she walked toward the elevators, seemingly trying to escape Diddy. Another angle of the cameras showed the rapper running through the halls until he caught up to her at the elevators, grabbed her by the neck, and threw her to the floor.

As the former singer lay motionless on the hotel floor, Diddy, whom Cassie claimed was "extremely intoxicated" at the time, proceeded to kick and drag her through the hallway by her hoodie. The producer also threw a glass vase from the hallway at Cassie.

Cassie's attorney, Douglas H. Wigdor, released a statement on how the video proved her claims. He said, "The gut-wrenching video has only further confirmed the disturbing and predatory behavior of Mr. Combs."

After the video surfaced and went viral on social media, Diddy posted a public apology video to his Instagram page a few days later.

He said, "My behavior on that video is inexcusable. I take full responsibility for my actions in that video."

In the video, Diddy noted that he was "disgusted" at himself for what he did in 2016 and "hit rock bottom."

The music producer added: "I went and I sought out professional help, started going to therapy and rehab, had to ask god for his mercy and grace. I'm so sorry. But I'm committed to [being] a better man each and every day. And I'm not asking for forgiveness. I'm truly sorry."

Cassie herself also addressed the video after it was released and thanked her supporters for their "love and support" as she heals from the trauma of her experiences.

She said in part, "It broke me down to someone I never thought I would become. With a lot of hard work, I am better today, but I will always be recovering from my past. Thank you to everyone that has taken the time to take this matter seriously."

Cassie added: "My only ask is that EVERYONE open your heart to believing victims the first time. It takes a lot of heart to tell the truth out of a situation that you were powerless in."

The video of Diddy assaulting Cassie came after she filed a lawsuit against him in November 2023, where she accused him of rape and abuse. About 24 hours after the lawsuit became public knowledge, the former couple settled out of court for an undisclosed amount.

Diddy claimed at the time that the settlement wasn't "an admission of any wrongdoing."

Before the video's release, Diddy was also the subject of a raid by Homeland Security as part of an ongoing sex trafficking investigation.

His homes in Los Angeles and Miami were searched by federal agents, who carted away boxes of potential evidence and questioned his sons and employees outside the properties.

Since Cassie's lawsuit and the home raids, Diddy has been the subject of six additional lawsuits by former employees and acquaintances, all accusing him of sexual misconduct, assault, and other illegal acts.

In the most recent suit, a former student of New York City's Fashion Institute of Technology claims the rapper drugged and raped them in the 90s.
