‘Southern Charm’ Kathryn Dennis Had A Meltdown During Arrest For 3-Car Collision

Kathryn Dennis had a breakdown after being stopped for driving under the influence in Goose Creek, South Carolina, recently. 

The reality television personality's dramatic episode, which turned tearful, is said to have been captured on video. This latest update comes after law enforcement rushed to the scene on Monday following Dennis' involvement in a three-car collision.

Dennis's Monday interaction with the police was anything but charming as evidenced in recently published dashcam footage. 

The video started with the Southern Charm" alum carrying her dog and a stylish bag as a police officer accompanied her toward a patrol car.

Subsequently, she underwent several field sobriety tests under the guidance of the officer. Dennis' failure promptly became evident, leading the officer to handcuff her and place her in the backseat of the police cruiser.

Shortly after, the South Carolina native's tears began flowing as she pleaded with the officer and expressed her desperation to keep her pet with her. 

Continuing her emotional outburst, Dennis alternated between threatening the officer and professing her concern for her two kids, even mentioning her familiarity with legal trouble due to her ex's criminal history, per TMZ.

Unfortunately, her dramatic reaction did not stop the police from vividly describing the incident in a legal document. 

The Blast reported that the officer who submitted the papers highlighted Dennis' condition at the accident scene, noting signs of impairment such as "glossy eyes." 

The cop also pointed out the scent of alcohol emanating from her person. Alongside her DUI charge, Dennis was also booked for driving with an open container.

Despite this being her first offense for driving under the influence, the 32-year-old's history with the law is not spotless.

She was previously named as a suspect in a hit-and-run case involving an elementary school back in November 2023. However, she was not arrested in connection with the incident.

Additionally, Dennis has grappled with substance abuse issues in the past, resulting in her losing custody of her two children in 2016. This loss of custody occurred after she tested positive for marijuana and sought treatment in rehab.

Her custody dispute with her former partner and father of her children, Thomas Ravenel, reached its conclusion in 2023 when the latter was awarded full custody of their kids. Breaking his news on the case's outcome, the 61-year-old expressed:

"I was awarded sole custody. I make all the parenting decisions. Kathryn has the right to supervised visitation by an approved supervisor [approved by the court] between the hours of 9:00 am to 7:00 pm, every other weekend."

Adding further insight into the custody arrangement, Ravenel shared that his ex-partner was not granted overnight visitation rights with their children, Kensington "Kensie" Calhoun Ravenel and St. Julien "Saint" Rembert Ravenel. 

He also asserted that he had assumed the responsibility of transporting the minors to "the halfway point between Aiken and Charleston," where Kathryn would then pick them up.

Just before she lost custody, an insider revealed the supposed reasons behind Dennis' contract not being renewed for the ninth season of "Southern Charm."

As the source claimed, "She doesn't show up on time or show up at all during filming a lot." They then alleged that Dennis "treats people like they are beneath her. She can't stand anyone doing better or getting more attention than her."

As it turned out, Bravo's attempt to allegedly manage her by bringing in a new producer failed. The insider also added, "I know Bravo didn't offer her a contract, but when you treat people poorly like she has, they finally get sick of it."

Up until her exit in season 8, fans had become accustomed to Dennis stirring up trouble among her "Southern Charm" cast members. These actions ultimately left fans speculating whether she would be invited back after each season. 

The Blast shared that one notable incident occurred when she confronted Whitney Sudler-Smith, accusing him of taking her baby daddy to a strip club while she was pregnant with their son Saint. 

This move was particularly bold considering Sudler-Smith's role as the beloved reality show's executive producer.

Viewers were equally shocked when Dennis used a monkey emoji to respond to a black radio host. Despite sparking outrage, she returned for seasons 7 and 8. 

While it remains unclear what exactly led to her dismissal from the Bravo show, many viewers are relieved to no longer see Dennis on their television screens.
