Ben Affleck And Jennifer Lopez's Marriage 'Not In The Best Place' As Divorce Rumors Swirl

Ben Affleck and Jennifer Lopez's marriage is confirmed to be facing challenges, with the couple living separately. Lopez remains at their Beverly Hills home, while Affleck stays at a nearby rental. Their differing approaches to privacy and public life reportedly cause friction in their two-year marital union.

The couple spent Mother's Day apart, with Lopez posting about her kids and mother on Instagram. Although their future is uncertain, Affleck and Lopez share a deep bond spanning two decades.

According to a source who spoke to People magazine, Affleck and Lopez's marriage is "not in the best place at the moment." The insider told the news outlet that Lopez, who "likes to open her heart to her fans and to the world," remains in their $60 million Beverly Hills home, while Affleck prefers a more private life and is staying in a nearby rental.

"He is more introspective and private. This has been difficult day-to-day," the source said.

Lopez's documentary, "The Greatest Love Story Never Told," highlighted the couple's differences. The documentary, which premiered on Prime Video in February, features Affleck discussing their 2021 reunion, 17 years after their previous relationship ended due to intense media scrutiny of "Bennifer."

"Getting back together, I said, 'Listen, one of the things I don't want is a relationship on social media," said Affleck. "Then I sort of realized it's not a fair thing to ask. It's sort of like, you're gonna marry a boat captain and you go, 'Well, I don't like the water.'"

He also  acknowledged that he and Lopez are "two people with different approaches trying to find a way to compromise."

A film source told People that despite Affleck's involvement in "The Greatest Love Story Never Told," he's never been entirely comfortable with publicly showcasing his relationship. The insider noted that the "Deep Water" actor respects Lopez's artistic identity and doesn't want to hinder her.

"He's always been impressed about how she works so hard and has achieved so much success," the source shared. "But the openness and promotion is not his way."

The insider also added that the "Hustlers" actress sometimes gets frustrated with Affleck's lack of structure and discipline, which "causes frustration."

"I don't know if they will split or if this is something they will work through," the source said.

"There have always been clashes in their styles and how they handle issues, but nothing has stopped their love over the years," a music source shared with the news outlet.

In the documentary, Lopez acknowledged that Affleck wasn't entirely comfortable with her involving him in her recent projects, including her album "This Is Me...Now" and the visual film "This Is Me...Now: A Love Story."

"He loves me, he knows I'm an artist, and he'll support me in every way he can because he knows you can't stop me from making the music I made," she explained. "But that doesn't mean he's comfortable being the muse."

During a February 26 conversation in Los Angeles with producer Elaine Goldsmith-Thomas about "The Greatest Love Story Never Told," Lopez admitted it was "very scary" to reveal personal details in the film.

"The other scary part was that I was bringing my husband into it, who was kind of a reluctant, silent participant," she said. "At one of the parts of the movie, I was like, 'Is this weird?' and he replied, 'Yes.'"

The couple were recently seen together in public on May 16 at an event for their kids in Los Angeles. Although they arrived separately, both wore their wedding rings, and Affleck was spotted driving them home afterward.

Days later, on Mother's Day, Lopez and Affleck, according to People, "did not celebrate Mother's Day together." Instead, Lopez, who has 16-year-old twins Max and Emme with ex-husband Marc Anthony, shared two Instagram posts on Mother's Day highlighting her relationship with her kids and her mother, Guadalupe "Lupe" Rodríguez.

"Lulu and Max, I am here FOREVER to support you, encourage you, to remind you of your greatness of your goodness, and your limitless capability. You. Can. Do. Anything," Lopez wrote in one caption. "You are brilliant and beautiful and worthy of love and all the beautiful things in life. If you ever learn one thing from me, let it be that."

Amid divorce rumors,  Lopez has allegedly reached out to Jennifer Garner for help and support. Insiders recently told the DailyMail that both women are worried that Affleck might relapse from his alcohol sobriety amid marital troubles.

The source said, "JLo has been confiding in Jen because she knows that she is one of the only people in the world who would understand what she is going through."

They added, "She has been through it with the same man herself, and although the circumstances were quite different, it is still the same man, and they both dealt with some of the same issues."
