As fans continue to dissect Harrison Butker’s controversial commencement speech from earlier this month, some are now claiming there are similarities between the NFL kicker and Ken from the live-action ‘Barbie’ movie.
As The Blast reported, Kansas City Chiefs kicker Harrison Butker delivered a graduation speech at Benedictine College, a private Catholic school in Kansas. During his speech, he spoke “directly to the ladies” to indicate that they should be like his wife, who is “embracing one of the most important titles of all: homemaker.”
He also told the men to “be unapologetic in your masculinity,” which is now reminding some of how Ken acted in the recent 'Barbie' film starring Margot Robbie and Ryan Gosling.
Is Harrison Butker A Real-Life Ken?
While it wasn’t a clip directly from his recent commencement speech, one TikTok user grabbed another clip of Butker during an interview, expressing what it was like to meet Taylor Swift at the New Year’s Eve game.
Swift, who is dating Chiefs’ tight-end Travis Kelce, has been showing up for the team, meeting many of the players and coaches. When reflecting on his first time meeting the pop icon, he expressed how “for her, it’s so cool, especially as a kicker, she thinks that’s amazing that I can [kick] the ball so far.”
The social media user then shared a clip from the live-action ‘Barbie’ film, where Ken is heard saying, “Shredding waves is much more dangerous than people realize,” to which Barbie responds, “You’re very brave.”
For the record, Butker also mentioned Taylor Swift during his 2024 commencement speech, but referred to her as his "teammate's girlfriend."
Fans React To Harrison Butker’s ‘Ken-ergy’
After seeing the side-by-side comparison, fans couldn’t help but roast Butker. “This is giving ‘She thinks I'm a big boy!’” one user commented.
"Who's a big big boy?" "I'm A BIG BIG BOY!" another expressed.
“I KNEW IT REMINDED ME OF SOMETHING,” a third wrote.

Fans continued to comment on the video, mocking Butker for how he delivered his lines in the interview.
“Me, kick ball. Me, so good. Me, so clever,” on TikToker commented.
A third said, “he can't decide if he thinks women are beneath him or if he only has a good day when Barbie notices him.” They were referring to the fact that in his commencement speech, Butker indicated that women should stay home and be “homemakers,” while men should “embrace their masculinity,” but when he met Taylor Swift, he seemingly gushed over the pop star.
Harrison Butker Under Fire For 2024 Commencement Speech
Per The Blast’s previous report, on May 11, the three-time Super Bowl champion delivered his address at Benedictine College, a private Catholic institution in Kansas. In his speech, he discussed various topics with the graduating class, including gender role expectations, COVID-19, God, and "bad leaders."
“Our own nation is led by a man who publicly and proudly proclaims his Catholic faith but at the same time is delusional enough to make the sign of the cross during a pro-abortion rally," the NFL player said, seemingly referencing President Joe Biden. "He has been so vocal in his support for the murder of innocent babies that I’m sure to many people it appears that you can be both Catholic and pro-choice.”
Butker also said, “abortion, IVF, surrogacy, euthanasia as well as a growing support for degenerate cultural values and media” come from “the pervasiveness of disorder.”
Harrison Butker Indicates Women Should Be ‘Homemakers’
Later in his speech, Butker said, “For the ladies present today, congratulations on an amazing accomplishment. You should be proud of all that you have achieved to this point in your young lives. I want to speak directly to you briefly because I think it is you, the women, who have had the most diabolical lies told to you.”
Butker then asked, “How many of you are sitting here now about to cross this stage and are thinking about all the promotions and titles you are going to get in your career? Some of you may go on to lead successful careers in the world, but I would venture to guess that the majority of you are most excited about your marriage and the children you will bring into this world.”
The NFL player then referenced his wife, claiming that “her life truly started when she began living her vocation as a wife and as a mother.”
