Actress Rita Ora is breaking the internet with her 2024 Met Galadress, which features beads from the 1st and 2nd centuries BC. However, not everyone was a fan of the wardrobe choice, as some claim she looks like she just walked "out of a swamp."
Considered fashion's biggest night, the Met Gala is an annual fundraising event that benefits the Metropolitan Museum of Art's Costume Institute in New York City. Every year, the Met Gala has a different theme, to which celebrities are expected to follow.
This year's theme is "Sleeping Beauties: Reawakening Fashion," and the dress code is "The Garden of Time." While many celebrities, such as Zendaya and Jennifer Lopez, are receiving praise for their custom-made gowns, Rita Ora is breaking the internet for a different reason.

After Rita Ora stepped out at the 2024 Met Gala, fans couldn't help but question her dress choice. "Why does Rita Ora look like she just climbed out of a swamp?" one user asked.
The actress wore a Tom Ford gown featuring a mesh bodysuit, telling Extra, “These [beads] actually have been handpicked all over sort of North Africa and Europe, and it just embodies this kind of timeless beauty from centuries and centuries.”
“What’s really unique is that playing with nature and time and understanding what beauty means to everyone is really, really cool to see," she added. "I’m excited to see how everyone’s interpreted it.”

Rita Ora says she is wearing beads that "age back to the first and second century BC." She then notes that this means those beads are "older, I think, than anyone on this planet," which does seem likely. pic.twitter.com/97QUWyvA0N

Comments continued to pour in, as one user said, "Looks like Rita Ora went to Party City for this one."
"I don't know what to say to Rita Ora," a third expressed.
Another, however, loved the "one of a kind" dress as they wrote, "Rita Ora in Marni wearing a dress made of beads from the 1st/2nd century BC collected from Europe and Northern Africa. Went back in time to collect the materials, one of a kind dress."

In 2021, the actress spoke to Fashion Week Daily, claiming, "Cher, Madonna, Diana Ross, and Gwen Stefani have all been huge inspirations in my life."
"They’re such powerful women who all have a unique point of view when it comes to fashion. Kate Moss is another style icon of mine; she is the epitome of British fashion," she added. “Madonna’s whole existence! She is such a bad-ss."
She continued, "When I was younger, I was into making my own outfits, and I would go digging in flea markets to find the perfect pieces. That’s probably my earliest fashion memory.”
