As Prince William and Kate Middleton face her ongoing cancer battle, the designer of their kids' clothes is weighing in on the heartbreaking situation. Amaia Arrieta, who has famously dressed George, Charlotte, and Louis on several occasions, said the couple are "going through hell."
Since Kate confirmed her diagnosis in an emotional video, the family has been spending time together to adjust to their new reality and allow her to recover. As it stands, it's unclear when the Princess of Wales will resume her royal duties.
The Prince And Princess Of Wales Are 'Going Through Hell' Amid Cancer Battle
Arrieta, the clothing designer who has created multiple outfits worn by Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis, has shared her opinion on the couple's current medical crisis.
Arrieta told The Telegraph that the news of Kate's cancer diagnosis has left her "heartbroken" after years of closeness with the Wales'.
She said, "I'm heartbroken at the moment, I think they are going through hell. I hope they will be back. It's really personal." Arrieta has worked with the couple since their eldest son, George, was a baby and supplied all three royal kids with many outfits for several royal occasions.
Kate first revealed her cancer diagnosis shortly after King Charles confirmed his own cancer diagnosis. The princess was forced to make the announcement after an online controversy about her health and reports that her 2024 Mother's Day photo was suspiciously edited.
She's Proud Of Her Designs Being Worn By The Young Royals
During her conversation with the publication, Arrieta said the opportunity to dress the royal kids has brought her "so much pride." Since George's birth, Kate and nanny Maria Teresa Turrion Borrallo have used multiple of Arrieta's designs for their kids.
The Spanish-born designer even dressed Charlotte for her ninth birthday last week. According to the DailyMail, Arrieta shared that she first saw her designs on the royal kids in a portrait of Prince George in 2014 when he wore Amaia shorts and knee-high socks.
She recounted the moment she spotted George's photo on the cover of Hello! magazine in Waitrose, saying, "That was a huge moment because they had been coming to us, but you never know if they'll actually wear it."
Kate and William's children have worn Arrieta's designs on multiple occasions, including the late Queen Elizabeth's Platinum Jubilee, and for official royal photographs.
The Waleses Are Adjusting To Kate Middleton's Cancer Diagnosis
After Kate announced her cancer diagnosis in March, she, William, and their three kids took some private time to manage her recovery. The family even had to break tradition and missed the annual Easter Sunday service at St George's Chapel at Windsor Castle.
In the video, where she revealed the shocking news, Kate said, "This, of course, came as a huge shock, and William and I have been doing everything we can to process and manage this privately for the sake of our young family. As you can imagine, this has taken time."
Kate noted at the time that telling her kids was the most difficult part. "It has taken us time to explain everything to George, Charlotte, and Louis in a way that is appropriate for them and to reassure them that I am going to be OK," the princess shared.
She further spoke about how she requires privacy for her and her family to recover from her surgery and undergo her preventive cancer treatment.
Prince Harry And Meghan Markle Wished Kate Middleton 'Healing' After Her Announcement
Shortly after Kate released a video to share the news of her shock cancer diagnosis, her royal relatives from across the pond, Harry and Meghan, sent in their message of support.
In a short statement to Harper's Bazaar, the pair said, "We wish health and healing for Kate and the family and hope they are able to do so privately and in peace."
Since stepping down from their roles as senior royals, relations between the Sussexes and the Waleses have been reportedly frosty, with reduced communications.
Later, it was also revealed that Harry and Meghan reached out to William and Kate "privately" to show their support.
It's Not Clear When Kate Middleton Will Resume Royal Duties
After the princess revealed her cancer diagnosis, the public massively rallied behind her and William, offering the mother of three well wishes and a speedy recovery. The couple are reportedly "enormously touched" and "extremely moved" by the love and support they've received.
Despite his own diagnosis, King Charles has recently resumed some of his public duties, but it's unclear if Kate will make the same move. William himself has significantly reduced his public engagements and is spending more time with his wife and their kids.
It was previously thought that the princess would resume her public duties after Easter, according to the palace's initial statements released to the public. However, when she released the cancer announcement video, it became apparent that her resumption would be pushed back further.
