The divorce battle between rapper Jeezy and his estranged wife, Jeannie Mai, is getting nastier as it progresses.
In a recent legal filing obtained by TheBlast, Jeezy hit back at Mai's allegations of domestic abuse, claiming that they are an attempt by the former talk-show host to "destroy" his "name," "brand," and "reputation."
Mai claimed in a previous filing that Jeezy is prone to "explosive outbursts, excessive drinking and domestic violence."
Jeezy Denies Jeannie Mai's Claims Of Domestic Abuse
According to the documents, Jeezy specifically stated that he has never held his estranged wife against her will, nor has he ever hit her with a "closed fist across her cheekbone."
The rapper's statement serves as a response to Mai's recent claims that he was prone to "domestic violence." during their marriage. However, Jeezy is calling her allegations "completely unsubstantiated."
His statement read, "First and Foremost, to be clear, [Jeezy] has never held [Mai] against her will ever. [He] has never struck the [Mai] with a closed fist across her cheekbone and eye, or punched, or choked [her] in any manner whatsoever."
The statement continued, "[Jeezy] has never pushed [Mai] down any stairs. Those allegations are completely unsubstantiated. [He] does not own an AK-47. [Jeezy] specifically denies that he has left guns and bullets all over the marital home. The claims by [Mai] are entirely fabricated and staged in an intentional effort to destroy the [rapper's] name, brand, and reputation because this divorce action was filed."
The pair are both parents to a daughter, Monaco, who is now also caught up in a custody battle.
Jeannie Mai's Domestic Abuse Claims Against Jeezy
In Mai's legal filing, she claimed that Jeezy physically assaulted her and held her against her will.
According to People Magazine, the former "The Real" host said in court documents: "He hurled insults such as 'You w---!' and 'I can't wait to divorce you when we get back."
Mai also alleged that she was held "against her will" and that the rapper struck her with "a closed fist across her cheekbone and eye, causing a subconjunctival hemorrhage."
The couple allegedly attended therapy due to the domestic violence incident. However, Mai claimed in her legal filing that another domestic violence incident occurred three months later while they were at the Ritz Carlton in San Francisco. Mai said she was "choked" by the rapper and thrown down the stairs.
Jeezy then "proceeded to verbally assault" Mai and allegedly called her a "f--ing b--ch" and said, "I can do so much better than you." According to the report, hotel security stepped in and provided Mai with protection after she claimed she felt "unsafe."
Jeezy Called Jeannie Mai's Allegations 'Deeply Disturbing' On Instagram
Prior to his legal filing, Jeezy called out Mai's domestic violence allegations on Instagram, branding them "deeply disturbing" and "false."
Last week, he wrote, "The allegations are not only false, but also deeply disturbing, especially coming from someone I loved. This malicious attempt to tarnish my character and disrupt my family is ridiculous."
The rapper continued, "It's disheartening to witness the manipulation and deceit at play and at this time my main concern is being an active father to our daughter as I continue to fight for court mandated joint custody. Rest assured, the truth will prevail through the proper legal channels."
Jeezy and Mai tied the knot in March 2021 during the COVID-19 pandemic at an intimate ceremony held at their Atlanta home.
Jeannie Mai Demanded To See Jeezy's Finances
Back in January, Mai demanded to see Jeezy's finances while pleading with a judge not to enforce their prenuptial agreements.
Mai claimed that because the prenuptial procedure moved so quickly, she couldn't thoroughly investigate the terms of the agreement. The TV personality noted that she and Jeezy began negotiating the prenup just five days before getting married.
The court document obtained by The Blast read: "Given the compressed timeframe, it was inherently challenging, if not impossible, for either party to engage in comprehensive due diligence. The result is an inability to fully comprehend, scrutinize, and verify the accuracy of the disclosed financial information, and casting doubt on the agreement's integrity."
It also stated that although the prenup seemed to meet all requirements, Mai "has significant reservations regarding [Jeezy's] financial disclosures, necessitating a thorough investigation" into his finances.
Jeannie Mai Says She Was 'Gutted' By Jeezy's Divorce Filing
During an appearance on the "Jennifer Hudson" show, Mai revealed she was "broken" after her split from Jeezy.
"I was going through things and marriage ended in divorce and it was kind of hard. It's what I'm dealing with day by day you know," Mai told Hudson, adding, "I think I'm doing better now."
The 44-year-old noted that she was "gutted" by the news, which she claims she was blindsided by, but emphasized that she's now working on herself and being present for her daughter.
Mai said, "At the time when I found out at the same time as the rest of the world that my marriage was ending in divorce, I was gutted. Today it's about picking up the pieces. It's about discovering me and being a mom to the best blessing in my life, my little girl."
